Lightning v Falcons 2012

Cummings and goings at the Oval and elsewhere

At Old Trafford with Lightning having loftier ambitions, squandered a good position only to pegged back by Naved ul Hasan

Lancashire 122/8
Steven Croft 48
Paul Horton 27*
Tom Smith 14
Gareth Cross 14

Naved ul Hasan 3/20

Despite a late slump, the sheepish Falcons easily knocked-off the necessary runs.

Derbyshire 124/7 (18.5 ov)
Wes Durston 56
Chesney Hughes 24*
Usman Kharwaja 15

Falcons won by 3 wickets with 7 balls to spare.

Pat Cummings, the young promising quick, in England on a conditions "recky" for next year's Ashes, has gone home with a strain.

Mitchell Johnson replaces Cummings in the Australian XI, Jade Dernbach replaces Jimmy Anderson in the England XI. Australia won the toss and elected to set a target.

 Australia 251/7
Shane Watson 66
George Bailey 65
David Hussey 29

England didn't experience too many problems in their chase, always being up with the rate.

England 252/4

Ravi Bopara 82
Ian Bell 75
Eoin Morgan 43*

England won by 6 wickets with 26 balls to spare.

At Chester le Street, two of the mis-firing teams of the North group took on each other.

Reigning Champions, Leicestershire, opened with Abdul Razzaq who remained at the crease until over 20, accumulating just 47 runs in the process.

Foxes 114/7
Abdul Razzaq 47
Matt Boyce 16
Ned Eckersley 13

114 proved to be totally inadequate.
Durham Dynamos 117/1 (13.2 ov)
Phil Mustard 51
Herschelle Gibbs 49*
Ben Stokes 15*
Durham won by 9 wickets

Leicester cannot now progress in this year's competition.

At Taunton, Worcestershire Royal Pears would have been expecting more than the 173/7 that they did get.
Moeen Ali 47
Phil Hughes 41
Vikram Solanki 33

Steve Kirby 3/37

But 173 was ample as Somerset failed dismally in their pursuit.

Somerset 119
Richard Levi 28
Kevin O'Brien 22
Lewis Gregory 22

Royals won by 54 runs.
