Hales storm rocks Sydney

Straight off the the plane, Alex Hales played for the Renegades against Michael Lum's Sixers at the SCG and it it was Hales that bombarded the boundary taking the game out of Sixers reach.

With 8 sixes and 5 fours Alex made a 52 ball 89 dumping Sixers out of the competition. Michael Lumb made 21 and Darren Pattinson 3/34 as the host fell 29 runs short of Renegades' 178/5.

08/01 Alex Hales turns Renegade

Alex Hales joins Lumby in the Big Bash, signed by Melbourne Renegades to replace injured Marlon Samuels - reacquainting himself with Darren Patto the Tiler Pattinson

Derbyshire are said to be investigating the possibility of signing Shiv Chanderpaul............. someone will be required to carry their batting after all.


Michael Lumb guided Sydney Sixers to a comfortable 5 wicket win over Brisbane Heat with 61 not out, giving Sixers a lifeline in the competition.

Derby Day Down-under 2013

In the 2013 Melbourne derby, Stars failed to shine 146/9 - Darren Pattinson 2/12, David Hussey 23. Renegades won by 9 wickets with 7 balls remaining.

In the Sydney derby, Sixers out beefed the Thunder, stealing a 4 wicket win with 6 balls remaining.

After Michael Lumb's return to the competition after his England exploits, Sixers have changed to their fortunes, Dan Hughes in only his second T20, the hero today. Lumby made a rapid 20 from opener for Sixers whereas former Outlaw, Dirk Nannes failed to halt the defeat for Thunder with 3/24. Sheep, Usman Khawaja hammered an unbeaten 66 for Thunder which proved ultimately not to be enough.
Sixers have now done the double over their closest rivals.
