Charlie Shreck (and others) gets the point(s)

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today confirmed that Leicestershire’s Charlie Shreck and Ben Raine, and Derbyshire’s Billy Godleman have received penalties under the ECB’s discipline code.

Former Notts and Kent, Shreck was reported by umpires Peter Willey and Graham Lloyd during Leicestershire’s LV= County Championship match against Essex on 15th – 18th September 2014 for a Level Two breach of the code (showing serious dissent against an umpire’s decision by word or action).
Shreck had previously received a reprimand following a Level One breach in July 2014. The penalty for a subsequent breach at Level Two within 24 months is six penalty points.
Godleman and Raine were both reported by umpires Martin Saggers and Jeff Evans during the LV= County Championship match between Derbyshire and Leicestershire on 23rd - 27th September 2014, for Level Two breaches of the code (inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in the course of play). The penalty for each of these offences is three penalty points.

These penalties will remain on their records for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two year period will result in an automatic suspension. ECB

Following Andrew Gales's two match suspension, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) referred the matter to the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC), which imposed another 2 game suspension and ordered Gale to attend an anger management course.

Gale will be blown out of the Champions v MCC at Abu Dhabi game plus Yorkshire's first proper championship game of the 2015 season.

It was recorded that Ashwell Prince didn't feel that "Kolpak" was a racial slur.

Kolpak, is it racist language?

Andrew Gale is being charged with using racist language against Kolpak qualified, Ashwell Prince, during their contretemps last month. The offending word being "Kolpak", as reported in the Daily Telegraph.

If the Telegraph feel relaxed to print the word in full, I doubt they nor their solicitors feel the word to racist or offensive..................... case closed?

Blown-out 2/9/14

Following an on the pitch disagreement between Andrew Gale and Ashwell Prince which involved Gale using some course language, Andrew Gale will miss the final two games of Yorkshire's season, according to Cricinfo.

The level 2 breach of the regulations is Gale's second this season, following an earlier 6 pointer offence in May, again verses Lancashire, triggering the automatic suspension.

Luckily for Yorkshire, they've all but won the LV Championship after brushing aside their rivals earlier today and Notts' disappointment at Chester le Street.

One game Andrew Gale is scheduled to miss is the televised Championship "decider" at Trent Bridge.

Horton ban

Paul Horton was been handed a 2 match T20 ban (next season), following dissent after his dismissal in the T20 final last month. He also accrues 3 penalty points.

Down and out

Following their draw at Taunton, constituting one of their better performances of the season which included a declaration, Northamptonshire couldn't beat mathematics and are relegated from Division One of the Championship.
