Only 23 overs were possible at Welbeck today as rain which arrived at noon never relented and the game was eventually called off at 1540.
Glamorgan won the toss and inserted an unchanged Notts. Play got under way on time with leaden skies and in front of a sparse crowd. Hales the hero 24 hours hours earlier mistimed a pulled shot off Ruaidhri Smith bowling from the Scoreboard End and was caught at mid on by Hogan to depart for 3, 8 for one in the 4th over. Four balls later Wessels (5) did not quite get hold of a delivery from Smith as he was caught on the square leg ropes by Aneurin Donald, 8 for 2.
James Taylor lasted 18 balls before being caught behind by Wallace off Hogan for three. Notts 23 for three off in the 11th over. Brendan Taylor and Samit Patel began to put the innings back on track as they added unbroken 60 in 13 overs, but with light rain falling umpires Hartley and Debenham took the players off after 90 minutes play with Notts on 83 for three and the match evenly poised. Taylor who played a few pleasing drives was unbeaten on 40 off 54 balls with six fours and Patel had 28 off 42 balls. A sad end to a well organizational weekend up in North Notts. MAG
