Cairns in Court




Former Nottinghamshire overseas legend, Chris Cairns goes on trial at Southwark Crown Court on Monday 5th October.



The former Kiwi all rounder is charged with perjury relating to a civil libel case against Lalit Modi in 2012 

The Crown Prosecution service alleged that during the 2012 trial that Cairns lied under oath and willfully made a statement "which you knew to be false or did not believe to be true - namely that you never, ever cheated at cricket and nor would you contemplate doing such a thing". 
Due in court as witnesses for the Prosecution is expected to be an array of present and past Test and County cricketing stars including Brendon McCullum, Daniel Vettori, Stephen Fleming and Andre Adams, to name just four.
The trial is expected to last four weeks.
