SET20 2025 : Notts 2s Reach Finals Day

09/07

Notts 2s won the winner takes all slogfest at Repton School.

After posting 249/8 (Dane Schadendorf 70 (25 balls) and Sammy King 113 (52 balls)) Notts were on the receiving end of a Brooke Guest battery of sixes as he bludgeoned his way to 102 (34 balls) including 10 sixes and 7 fours. At the fall of Guest's wicket at 164/2 after 10.5 overs, the Derbyshire innings stumbled and fell away.

Notts winning by 33 runs as Derbyshire were 216 all out after 18.4 overs.

Most of the Notts bowlers took a pasting by Brooke Guest. Olly Stone would appear to still be ring rusty, over 17 containing 10 balls (4 wides). Rob Lord would also appear to be a distance from the first team 2-0-45-0, much of the carnage done by 5 sixes and 3 fours off Guest's bat.

Pick of the bowlers was Joe Pocklington (of Lincolnshire) 4-0-31-3 including the key wicket of Guest.

Freddie McCann 3-0-19-3 but he only bowled from the 11th over after Guest had departed.

Dane Schadendorf is the leading six hitter in the competition with 15 from his 4 innings.

James Hayes is the top wicket taker with 19 @ 14.53 with RPO of 8.08 (10 innings)

Joe Pocklington has taken 15 wickets over-all in the competition playing for and against Notts.

113 today

Notts pip the other runners up to finals day: Central group's Worcestershire 26 points and South group's Kent 24 points.

Pravda reports from the scorecard

Rob Lord (35*) with the bat saw Notts home by 2 wickets against Lancashire. Opening Ben Martindale 55(30)

05/06

A comfortable win  for the Sammy King led team. Does that mean Freddie is in the squad for the Blast?

03/06

Two wicket win - scorecard

Positives: Freddie McCann, Rob Lord. Negatives: Conor McKerr, Haseeb Hameed (what do the coaches learn by playing a fish out of water?)

2nd match collapse and defeat - scorecard

Positives: zero Negatives: Most of the eleven

Pravda:

Quickfire runs from Freddie McCann and three wickets for Rob Lord helped Nottinghamshire’s Second XI to victory in the first of their two T20 contests with Yorkshire at Worksop College.

Lord finished with figures of 3/31 from his four overs – including the scalp of opener Fin Bean for 45 – as the White Rose made 154/8 from their 20 overs.

In reply, Ben Martindale’s 30 from 23 and McCann’s 45 from 23 were the key contributions as the Outlaws reached their target with three balls to spare.

In the second fixture, Martindale’s 38 from 26 was bettered only by Sam Seecharan (43 from 25), but a four-wicket burst from Jafar Chohan restricted the hosts to 122, as Notts were dismissed inside 16 overs.

Conor McKerr took two wickets in the run-chase, to add to a further wicket in game one, but Yorkshire were victorious by six wickets.

02/06

Will Notts use tomorrow's matches at Worksop College as first team practise for those pace bowlers that are struggling to find those lines, lengths and variations that might result in keeping the ball on the park?

Rusty? Every second delivery on average is passing the boundary rope at the moment.

28/05

But where is Dane Schadendorf?

This year's competition starts this week, although Notts 2s don't have their first games until next week.

  1. Ben surely worth another go as opener in the t20 and hopefully a shoe-in for the 50 over. He gets his runs quickly enough and he is getting a bowl nowadays
