James Taylor gap to be filled from within

05/05/2016
NO REPLACEMENT

Mick Newell let it be known to the media that Nottinghamshire would not be looking to recruit (from outside the club) anyone to replace James Taylor. Nottinghamshire will be using their own resources.

Notts currently have Brendan Taylor, Will Gidman, Brett Hutton, Sam Wood and Luke Wood all playing in the Seconds.

Short term Greg Smith has filled the void but long term members are looking to either Billy Root or Tom Moores to make the necessary steps up perhaps.

If Jake Libby show further improvement, then his return could add additional selection options, rather than as a replacement for any Hales International call-ups.

JAMES TAYLOR SHOCK RETIREMENT

Shock news was relayed from Trent Bridge today that James Taylor was being forced to retire because of heart condition.

Last week Taylor pulled out of the Cambridge MCCU game with what thought to be a virus but following scans on Monday, it was discovered that Titch has Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC)  and will be operated on in the near future.

With ARVC being a serious life threatening condition, in spite of being super-fit, James had very little option other than to retire.

The good news is that they have found this defect before something catastrophic happened on the field of play.

Good luck Titch with the operation and with whatever career you follow in the future.
