WOOD STANDS OUT FROM THE CROWD

On a shortened day two, where just 53 overs were possible, Notts Seconds closed on 240/7.  Sam Wood 64 Luke Wood 39 Dan Freeman 3/41

Sam Wood on paper looks to be knocking on Mick Newell's door with Brendan Taylor no where in the reckoning (on form alone) but Mick will take a lot of persuasion not to ultimately back his senior players in favour of another breakthrough player, when it comes to Championship side selection. I'm sure there's some kind of apt metaphor, with Specsavers, with regards to this mindset.

Day 1

Rather than playing Lincolnshire, Second's opponents morphed into a Lincolnshire Development Eleven that included both Lumb and Taylor.

Batting first, Brendan Taylor lasted only 3 balls before edging Luke Wood to Tom Moores' gloves. Michael Lumb did make 72 however as the Lincolnshire side racked-up 317-8 dec. Dominic Brown 94, Dan Freeman 55.

Sam Wood 3/59 Luke Wood 2/32

Notts Seconds will take a strong squad for their annual raid across the eastern borders when they play Lincolnshire at Sleaford, starting Tuesday.

Both Michael Lumb and Brendan Taylor, struggling for runs so far, make the trip with.
