Countdown to Finals Day

NORTHANTS MISSING 3

Northants will be without Steven Crook, Richard Gleeson and Seekkuge Prasanna for T20 Blast Finals Day.

Sri Lankan international Prasanna, 31, has not been released by the Sri Lankan Cricket Board as he will be part of their one-day squad to face Australia.

Crook injured his calf in their draw with Leicestershire, while Gleeson picked up a side strain against Surrey. BBCSport

SELL OUT! but if you're Yorkshire here's some more tickets...

Last week we were told that tickets in the Raglan Stand were "sold out"

Yesterday on YorkshireCCC.com

 17 August 2016
A limited number of NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day tickets at Edgbaston are now on general sale.
These tickets are only available to purchase online or from the Yorkshire County Cricket Club Ticket Office.

Adult tickets are available to purchase in Block 7 F & B of the Ragland Stand priced at £67.80 (including £1.80 booking fee). Please note that there are no junior tickets available. A maximum of four adult tickets are available to purchase per customer.
You have to assume that Yorkshire have been given access to tickets through Ticketmaster, exclusively because those tickets have been on the Edgbaston since the weekend, but if you clicked-on them it said "unavailable", even-though they had the green and unsold icon.

Twenty-20 Boost

Notts have now announced on Twitter that Andre Russell is returning for Final Day. A proven winner and a boost to both the bowling and to the batting. With both Christian and Russell in the eleven, Outlaws would be more explosive then Semtex

Some clarification about the Overseas registrations allowed would be nice but I was under the understanding that it was limited to two at any one time for the Blast competition. Nottinghamshire in the same article have named Russell in a squad additional to Tahir and Christian.

Imran Tahir has a good win record playing for Outlaws in one day cricket, only being beaten by the weather (as does Russell, but with less games).

Russell in for Tahir from the below XI?

It has been announced officially now that Alex Hales and Stuart Broad are available for Saturday and that Outlaws will take a large large squad to Edgbaston.

Regardless of the squad, this will be the eleven to to face Steelbacks:

Alex Hales
Michael Lumb
Riki Wessels
Dan Christian
Samit Patel
Steven Mullaney
Chris Read
Stuart Broad
Jake Ball
Imran Tahir
Harry Gurney

How could it be anything else? Northamptonshire will know this and plan accordingly whereas we haven't a clue what their team will be and will rely on believing that man for man we out gun them in every department, but as we know, if doesn't always work like that. Fingers and toes crossed that it does work like that on Saturday.

On the face of it, distracted by forthcoming events at Edgbaston on Saturday, Nottinghamshire's batsmen are plunging to a dreadful defeat against Hampshire.

The finalists have been decided following the Quarter-Finals this week and the draw has been made for the Semi-Finals at Edgbaston on August 20th:

Semi 1

Northamptonshire Steelbacks v Nottinghamshire Outlaws

Semi 2

Durham Jets v Yorkshire Vikings

With only a pitiful quantity of 600 tickets going on sale to members at 8 AM this morning, it was little wonder that the Dixon Gates were closed to further members joining the queue before 8 AM had arrived. Members at the front of the queue, reportedly, arrived at the ground at 3 AM.

  1. With regards to the overseas regulations, we can play any two of the three for both the semi-final and final i.e. Russell and Christian could play the semi-final and Christian and Tahir could play the final for example.

    1. Is Dan Christian ever going to stand aside?

Ticks most other boxes, you can make a strong case for Smith's inclusion but what about Stuart Broad?

    1. #nexit we need a stronger leader, not soft on the players, who knows how to prepare players psychologically for games, not afraid to drop under-performing star names and one not in England's pocket.
