Fab Four

Today Nottinghamshire made it four new signings now in place ready for the 2019 season, with the announcement of Joe Clarke accepting a four year deal at Trent Bridge

Fab Four

Add to them, Paul Coughlin who is yet to feature very much this year and we have a fresh looking, ambitious line-up.

Should we lose many from the existing squad over the winter?

Do we need more new blood?

  1. We still have to see which way we go for our overseas player, Most likely to be a quick bowler you would think,So let's hope Mick moves as quickly in making the signing, That way we can sit back and look at teams doing what we failed so dismally to do last season

Hopefully we don't lose anyone, This season has proved small squads don't work

I can't finish without saying a well done to the club in identifying and securing our new players ( yes that does mean our DoC) We have in the past criticised the management, So it's only right we give praise when it's deserved... Next season seems a whole lot brighter all of sudden....

    1. I agree with Zanga's comments. I've been one of the first to criticises Notts for complacency but the management deserve great credit for these signings and introducing competition for places. I think that The chance to work with Moores and The General has been a real factor in us beating off stiff competition to sign these young, talented players. Tin hats on now though everyone as we are going to get some heavy criticism from outside the county but sod em I say. Up the green and golds.

    2. ...that and the proven pathway to the national side, which is JC's over-riding ambition.

    3. Completely agree it's TOUGH. Let the other Counties whinge if they want to. Rod Bransgroves Kolpackshire down at the Ageas and Surrey don't mind pinching players, so it's our turn. As long as they're 100percent committed to Notts, that's all that counts in my opinion.Weve produced many players for England down the years and then it comes back to bite you on the backside when they don't play for you.Weve little coming through in terms of batsmen at the minute, so we had no other option...........cannot wait for next season now.

  2. Well I doubt anymore signings Lots of players at the club must be accessing their futures though I think a bigger question is Overseas Bowler or Batsman for CC ?

  3. Re Hundred and the future ECB plans: It will create an unhealable division between the test and non test counties which already evidenced by the movement of good players from the the non test counties. Dump it now!

  4. Well said , Zangakkara, we have all nailed to DoC over the lack of recruitment last winter, but now, credit where it's due. To beat off stiff competition for Clarke&Ducket is a major coup. Also, there were apparently NINE counties in for Chappel of Leics, so it's a pat on the back this time. It certainly helps when you can give 100percent attention to Notts, though, and have no side issues with an alternate career with the ECB. We will almost certainly go for an overseas bowler in my opinion, as we had originally planned to do this season. Also, in complete contrast to this season, there will be real competition for places. Four new signing, plus Coggers, plus an overseas option also. There will be no staying in side just because you're fit and a big name player if you are not producing the goods?
