  1. The Bulwell Bomber is a popular figure down at the Bridge.Always gives 100percent and huge credit to him for recovering from that awful blow. I'm not sure some bowlers would have the mental strength to come back the same player. However, those batting stats suggest he's a no10, 9 at the very best and should not be batting 8 like he did a lot last season(of course, that's not his fault). The bowling figures suggest he could do a job as part of a 4 man attack provided a spearhead like Patto or Bally(at his very best) is part of the quartet but he should not be taking the new ball. He lacks the pace to perform on flat pitches, but, his main strength is his economy rate which builds pressure, provided Gurney or Radar are not then spraying it around from the other end. As a one day bowler, often gets nailed in the power play(he's not on his own, it's a batters game)then can return at the death with a variety of Yorkers, which when delivered accurately are near impossible to play unless your someone like Jos Butler who has the freakish ability to hit ramp shots both sides of the wicket. Of course his constant struggles with fitness and limited agility in the field do not do him any favours in this format of the game. All in all, a decent club cricketer who will do a job for us, PROVIDED there is a strong enough squad at club to get the best out of him

    1. He's not a new ball bowler but can do a useful job in the right attack.

  2. He's a star!!! Down to earth, honest and will talk to spectators - a real credit to Notts (unlike some others who could be mentioned!). His Yorkers are superb and his general enthusiasm is evident when he is doing a bit of commentating. I am sure that the younger players look up to him and that his contribution to team morale is immense. When his playing career does end I very much hope that he will remain with Notts in some important capacity.

    1. I completely agree, he was flogged too much this season and would better as a first change bowler.

  3. I'd agree too: These are decent stats (the last 2 seasons) but not a strike bowler's figures. 300 overs and 35-40 wickets is his contribution - good enough as part of a decent seam attack (which we could well get back to, if Broad and Ball play the early part of the season and the continued ludicrous front and back ended scheduling of 4 day games continues!!)
