2018 saw Jake reinvent himself. Through necessity Libby was thrown into the Outlaws' Blast eleven, batting at 9 to just make-up numbers. As the series of games progressed Jake Libby had etched a role for himself, displacing Billy Root in the process, once Alex Hales had returned; eventually finding himself batting at 3 or 4 - Jake Libby 2.0.
In the championship however, Libby is a regular selection - clinging on to his place by the skin of his teeth. A consistent, yet uninspiring average gives a clue that he often has the temperment but lacks the complete bag of tricks (some might say ability or skills) to score runs at the top level. Now that Notts have top middle order options available, after the recruiting spree, perhaps Jake could reinvent himself again for the championship this time. Jake Libby 2.0.0.
The One Day Cup could be Jake's competition to flourish in - I wonder if he'll ever get a debut?

Yes, give him credit for improving his white ball skills, perhaps he will have to continue his development in this format if he wants to stay at the club? More disturbing is the old perennial chestnut that we cannot produce a batsman from our as was academy/2nd team to be given a chance ahead of these very average 4 day performances each season. 500-600runs@27/28ish with 1xhundred over the season surely cannot be good enough or acceptable to be one of the two opening batsmen for us?
