I'm easing in to this one gently and tentatively, is one of them Scotty Elstone?

  2. We had an awful pea green one day strip in 2004, sponsored by bluesq.com, so of that time could it be Gareth Clough with long hair? Gotta feeling the legendary Curator is going to have to have some input.....aiming wildly, like an American Tomahawk missile, is the old boy Mike Smedley?

    1. I promise I'll try and pitch Round 4 right at your level Stoney, (lol).

I've slowed it all down this time for the Curator too.

Well done to Mike who got them all correct on E mail BTW

The old boy, as you call him, was my easy one - to give you a start,

It isn't MJ Smedley, who now won't be in Round 4 - sod-it!

That's not Golden Arm Gareth Clough with hair either.

  3. I suppose the one in the black training gear......could be Sam Kelsall(at a push)?

  4. Clue 1: One International, one true legend of cricket, not just of Trent Bridge; one still playing still regularly in Notts Prem and one released by his "parent county" when they were relegated a few years back.

Is one of the 'younger' lads Tom Rowe?

    1. Which one Stoney? It sounds like you're pulling names out of a hat. Which one is the 'stute regular?

Which one is the current Intermational?

Tom Rowe would fit the black MKK training shirt era, the white four day Exito brand was a good few years back. Unfortunately, the Academy lads used to wear a variety of apparel, so it's not as easy as that. The current international surely must be in the pea green ?

    1. Clue 2: try working out what current Internationals have played for Notts in the last 5 years. The green shirt is a red herring.

  7. The one in the academy top is Tom Rowe

    1. Matt Cross in the black. Scotland's keeper.

    1. Yes he's the legendary eccentric and as John has pointed out two of the others are in black, Matty Cross, Scotland International, who played his one list A game for Notts with Tom Rowe, in white academy kit, against Bangladesh A.

That just leaves the guy in green....

  9. Clue 2: If the green shirt was actually red, would that help?

    1. Correct. Played 2 first class games on loan for Notts during their championship triumph in 2005. He played 53 first class games in total for Lancashire, Notts and Gloucester between 2003 and 2013
      Full name: Oliver James Newby
Born: 26th August 1984, Blackburn, Lancashire, England
      Batting: Right-hand batsman
      Bowling: Right-arm fast-medium

I have to, albeit begrudgingly, admit clue no1 was actually quite helpful(!) Stoney NOW has his very own follow up question, namely, which player who would have played alongside one of those four, also made appearances for Notts?

    1. Surely Bomber played with ten other guys every game that also played for Notts????
Or are you after another loanee? Would KH be who you mean?

A number of players at Kimbo were also on Notts Academy /2s books - George Bacon and Dom Brown to name just 2.

Yes, Harry, in hindsight it was an appalling badly phrased question, but, yes indeed Kyle Hogg was the one I meant....you win again(as Errol used to sing). Back to school for Stoney, there's more to being quizmaster than meets the eye!!!!!!!!

    3. I had had Kyle Hogg's photo lined up for another round, but not anymore.
