  1. Hope to attend, could be very cold, although went to Fenners 2 years ago and lovely, last year there best forgotten !

  2. Long term Forecast not looking too bad - not very warm but unlikley to be rained off.

  3. Season just a fraction over a month away and as yet we still have a couple of overseas vacancies.

You would hope that means we are waiting for someone special, The worry there is who is left!

I know we were told we need to have patience , Lets hope it's not misplaced and we do not end up with Jackson Bird mk 2!

Jackson Bird, Ben Hilfenhaus, Peter Siddle, Ross Taylor, Ed Cowan. None of these pulled up many trees or won many games with their own performances, which is the whole point in signing overseas players, the bananaman was steady without being spectacular and Roscoe as the lads called him sacrificed his wicket when nailed on for a ton in a swashbuckling innings however to be fair to them both. Still not sure whether we are targeting a bowler or batter now that Broady will be available for us in the first half. It was interesting last season when our DoC did a complete U turn and after being interested in a spin bowler, namely Nathan Lyon, then signed an ageing batsman in Ross Taylor. The most alarming aspect is that we couldnt sign the brilliant David Hussey now due to him not meeting the criteria for overseas pros. Real shame about Patto's fitness as I'm sure he would have been our no1 target assuming CA would have allowed him to play.

    2. Craig Braithwaite is the who we need - he will struggle but so will everyone else, early season but he would a good balance for Duckett, Clarke and Slater

Yes, I agree, he did well last year. The possible only downside is he is not suited particularly well to the white ball stuff but over the season as a whole, I think he would be a good option. An opening batters role is sometimes more than just the runs they score. Crease occupation and protecting 4,5and 6 from the new ball is a vital role and then these strokemakers can cash in more easily. If it were to be him, I just wonder whether we would have done the deal already?

    4. Agreed, if Kraigg was going to re-sign for Notts, he would have done so already, wouldn't he?

  4. Worth joing Leicestershire if you prefer just the County Championship games as they also have a reciprocal arrangement with Derbyshire:

Leicestershire CCC Members can attend the following fixtures at Derbyshire CCC (20 extra days of REAL cricket):

    - Derbyshire CCC v Glamorgan CCC: Sun 19 May - Wed 22 May

    - Derbyshire CCC v Middlesex CCC: Sun 30 June - Wed 3 July

    - Derbyshire CCC v Gloucestershire CCC: Sun 18 Aug - Wed, 21 Aug

    - Derbyshire CCC v Sussex CCC: Mon 16 Sept - Thurs 19 Sept

Possibly slight bit of small consolation also is the 2s home fixtures appear to be better this season for anyone wanting to watch some games at the palatial venue of Lady Bay(and it costs you nowt)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Oh yes, Lady Bay - no seats; no refreshments; pathetic scoreboard; a disgrace of a place for the likes of Notts. CCC - but, hey, there's the new Cafe to pay for before the comfort of the real supporters can be addressed!!! Have I turned bitter - you bet!

  7. Just off to get my Leicestershire membership - with a sad heart that after 10 years (not a lot compared to many others, I know) I have no passion left for Notts. It's not the players but the senior management and Committee who I blame. Still, I can still watch Notts 4-day Games + Leicestershire + 5 Derbyshire ones.
