The beleaguered Notts take themselves to Leeds, 24 hours after Worcestershire dealt them a reality-check.
Paper talk and hype of Outlaws being competition favourites was made to look ill-informed and stupid.
There's a lot of rain around today, so a shortened game or wash-out might aid and abet Outlaws in stealing one or two points.
Notts appear to have carried through all of their failings from their Championship form and only Alex Hales stood-out as someone with confidence and the ability to succeed.
It's 73 days since Notts won any game of cricket; over a third of the season.
Long much longer will we have to wait? On the evidence of last night, a fair while yet alas.
As it turns out, the wait will go on until at least Wednesday with the fixture against Steelbacks as heavy rain and hail was on the menu at Headingley on Friday night.
An interesting team sheet appears on the ECB Play Cricket live scores feed
- CD Nash
- JM Clarke
- BM Duckett
- JD Libby
- TJ Moores†
- SJ Mullaney*
- SR Patel
- JL Pattinson
- LJ Fletcher
- M Carter
- JT Ball
Has Mick Newell walked the plank yet
ReplyDeleteGood to see you Sir Philip at the big game last night after another day at the palatial Lady Bay beforehand. Almost impossible to comprehend the two events were actually the same sport of cricket. There's rumours circulating that both you and Nuts the Squirrel Mascot both dined at Cafe Six alongside the Doc&Ms. Pursestrings
ReplyDelete!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately I have a fear of heights so it wasn't my good self and 'Nuts' is banned from 'Six' due to persistent bad behaviour. I do understand that our Commercial Director provides the security for 'Six' so having upset him in the past I fear that I would have to go incognito.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the reward is for the first batsman to launch a mighty six and actually hit the heavy plate glass panoramic windows of the SIX restaurant ?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if its actually feasible ?
On a more serious note - what an anti-climax for the massive (12,000+)crowd that turned up at Trent Bridge last night . The great majority were witnessing first hand the sort of dross that loyal 4 day game supporters have been putting up with all this season .
How will the future "gates" be affected if things do not improve and our hero,s continue to capitulate in similar fashion ?
I gather that future T20 games at Trent bridge are priced at £24 for an adult (not pre-booked) . That is a lot to pay to see the quality of play served up by Notts yesterday .
Future weak performances are bound to affect the Clubs revenue streams .
Then no doubt the very quiet (up until now) Notts CCC committee will have to take some sort of remedial action .
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO ALTER THE TEAMS PERFORMANCE ?
Will a raft of inexperienced Second Team make a difference if drafted into the first team .
A tricky one for the Management to sort out . But they are pretty highly renumerated and they get paid to get results .
Heads to roll ?
Match abandoned - so at least we get a Point!!!
ReplyDeleteA hastily arranged 'double header' of 2x20 Overs Matches will take place this Monday 22 July 2019 at Lady Bay - 11am & 2-30pm starts. Opponents are our good 'friends' Leicestershire.
