Recently won the T20 Player of the Year for the tragically under-achieving Notts Outlaws in 2019. Although the under-achievement was in spite of Alex's exploits this season, his favour still remains in decline with the Notts stalwarts owing to his part-time but mega full pay contract. This means from next season he will only play T20 for Notts. Hales' loss of an England Central Contract also means that he is likely to play for the highest bidder in the The Hundred meat market later this month - not necessarily the Trent Bridge based plastic team. Freedom from a central contract has also led Hales to sign a deal with Sydney Thunder in the forthcoming BBL. Hales is currently playing in the CPL. Can he be considered a Notts player anymore, or is he just a Trent Bridge summer-based global mercenary?

Red ball return never going to happen, is it? 14 innings in 4 seasons: 13 of those yielded 400 runs, the other a double century.
ReplyDelete'...or is he just a Trent Bridge summer-based global mercenary?' - Yes, that's correct!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a bit misleading for the club to say they've signed a white ball deal, when in reality they've signed a T20 deal. So then Baz and Harold G are both to become rocket-men. Not sure if it's officially confirmed but all the franchises are sponsored by crisp manufacturers as per the promo stuff just released.
ReplyDeleteAnd he could earn another £100k for 5 weeks 'work' for the Trent Knockabouts!!!
