Only one match, on Friday 7th August against Somerset, is at Trent Bridge. Notice we play Surrey at the Oval. I will check at some stage if other Hundred counties have treated their HQs better re Royal London competition. Seems North / South split has been abandoned
ReplyDeleteJust looked at Warwickshire - 2 home games at Edgbaston (including the one against Notts) and 2 at home at the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground (so not playing any home games in any foreign county)
ReplyDeleteYes Surrey have 3 games at the Oval (including their game against Notts) and 1 at Guildord for the home game quota.
DeleteGlamorgan have 2 home games at Cardiff and 2 home games at Newport (including their game against Notts) - so technically out of county, in Gwent but as the whole of Wales claims Glamorgan or is it vica versa, then that doesn't count.
DeleteLancashire, like Notts take a game out of county where they play both a home game and away (Cumberland) game at the same venue - Sedbergh School but also manage to squeeze a home in at Old Trafford. Liverpool and Blackpool make-up the other out grounds.
DeleteHampshire will play 3 home games at the Ageas Bowl and 1 on the IOW
DeleteYorkshire take all of their home games out of the West Riding, 2 at York and 2 at Scarborough (including the Notts game)
DeleteUnsurprisingly, Middlesex won't be playing any games at Lord's - all for home games will be played at Radlett.
DeleteBut it's no longer a First Class Competition!
ReplyDeleteIt's still List A isn't it?
DeleteYes it is still list A
DeleteGordon Hollins, the ECB’s new county cricket managing director, has admitted the Royal London One-Day Cup will be relegated to a “development competition” from 2020 onwards.
ReplyDeleteHe'd better tell the Princess then as she profusely denied it at the members forum. Pravda is stretching it a tad(even by their high standards) as describing Welbeck and Gorsey Lane as "picturesque" outposts. Welbeck possibly but it wasn't particularly picturesque last season standing cold and wet in that field waiting for the Notts coach to turn up 50mins late whilst all the players drove past in their flashy automobiles
DeleteHe should be a politician ! Having used that description to start with ECB had dropped it, now it is back. Anyway, I hope to get to at least 2 of the matches
ReplyDeleteWell, I assumed similar to the World Cup we couldn't play at TB whilst the 100 was being staged, hence why we had to play at the picturesque outposts. But no, we are playing the Wurzels during this so why did we need to take 2 games out of the county? These surely could have been played at TB also, or, at least one of them and then Welbeck could have had 2 games. But I guess they'll quote the "old perennial" of not enough wickets. We seemed to cope with this factor years ago however when there were more games at TB. Suspect it's a very favourable agreement with Princess Pursestrings but that's only SJs personal opinion
ReplyDeleteLast season the World Cup buggered the season up at TB and next year its the very unwanted 100 Ball Competition .
ReplyDeleteA year from now - what will we be saying on this Forum ?
Any predictions?
Its that time of year for them !
