“After such a long, testing and unusual close-season, it’s tremendously exciting to finally be getting out on the field for some competitive action,” said Nottinghamshire Head Coach Peter Moores.
“We’re sad that we won’t be able to welcome our members and supporters in to Trent Bridge to watch us, but we’ll be doing everything we can to represent them on the field and to put on a show for them to enjoy.
“Having phoned many members during the lockdown period, I know how much the return of cricket will mean to them and how much they would have loved to be in the ground with us. Trent Bridge has a real family feel and we will miss them cheering us on.
"I’ve been impressed with how the lads have progressed over the winter, and some terrific work has been done since returning to training during the past few weeks as well.
“On behalf of all the players and coaching staff, I can promise that we are ready to give it our all and play with a smile on our faces, in appreciation of the opportunity to play for a great club.”
Nottinghamshire members and County Championship ticket-buyers for affected fixtures will be contacted directly by the club to outline their options.

The fixture list for the Bob Willis Trophy is set to be released on Friday, July 24.
The ECB's makeshift red-ball competition will be split into three regional groups of six teams, with each side playing five matches.
The campaign will run for four weeks between August 1 and August 27, prior to the T20 Blast. A showpiece final is expected to take place in late September and early October.
The Blast fixture list will not be released at the same time, as schedulers continue to work on the logistics of the event.
It has been reported that the ECB and Sky Sports are in negotiations over the screening of a Blast match every day during the campaign.
County matches are unlikely to be able to entertain crowds this season, despite the government using two friendly warm-up fixtures as pilots for the return of fans.
The match between Surrey and Middlesex at The Oval on Sunday and Monday will be attended by a small number of members, as officials test out social distancing regulations at venues across the country.
County bosses remain keen for some Blast matches to host limited capacity audiences later in the summer, but last week's No.10 announcement that October 1 is the target date for the widespread return of crowds means it is possible there will be no fans at competitive cricket matches in the UK in 2020.
No Home For Derbyshire 2020*
Incora must be the latest incarnation of the County Ground, Nottingham Road, Derby
DerbyshireCCC statement:
England will use The Incora County Ground as their training base ahead of an international summer series, which will take place exclusively in Derby.
The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have today confirmed that England Women will play all of their international fixtures at The Incora County Ground in 2020, with bio-secure training camps taking place beforehand.
Additional details regarding future men’s and women’s training camps, as well as a fixture list for England’s behind closed doors series in Derby are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
The confirmation, which comes as the touring Pakistan men’s squad continue to train at The Incora County Ground, means that the Derbyshire first team squad will play all fixtures away from home this summer.
The men’s domestic season begins on Saturday 1 August, with four-day Bob Willis Trophy fixtures soon to be released.
Chief Executive, Ryan Duckett, said: “England’s international fixtures are massively important to the whole game at all levels and we are pleased to have been chosen to host these high-profile training camps and matches this summer.
“The Incora County Ground has developed into a prominent venue for international cricket, including hosting the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2017 and most recently a bio-secure training camp for the touring Pakistan squad.
“This means that Derbyshire will play all matches away from home once the domestic season starts and this decision has been made with the full support of our coaching and playing staff.”

Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, would like to say on behalf of Stuart Broad, hi!
ReplyDeleteHe always produces his test match form for us that's why he's so popular with the Notts faithful. As per the above we should rename the Raddy Rd stand after him and his photo should replace the awful new club badge
DeleteCan’t really agree that SB always produces his test match form for Notts, he doesn’t. He hardly ever plays for us and as far as naming a stand after him, well stands should never be named after players. It dates too quickly and years later new generation players may emerge. Many county stands are named after players that the current generations have never heard of. Not a good idea.
DeletePresume all counties will contact members with similar in next few weeks?
ReplyDeleteFlag of truce with members of our neighbouring county.
ReplyDeleteWhat is happening to county cricket when a county side is excluded from it's own HQ ?
Unfortunately its just the beginning of the end for county cricket; we need more CEO's like Richard Gould; members are just an unnecessary inconvenience to most CEO's who simply follow the lead of the ECB. For those members thinking of deferring their memberships to the 2021 season please remember there is no guarantee that next year will be any different to this one. We may as well send in the bulldozers and sell all the county grounds to developers as sadly they are not financially viable or required in this new world.
ReplyDeleteDo we realise 300 people are going to be in the Crucible for 17 days, while as it stands we can't watch county cricket outdoors.
ReplyDeleteThe only solution is an effective vaccine for Covid-19.
ReplyDeleteGlamorgan statement from 07/07: last week saw the Club’s membership respond with an incredible display of beneficence, helping to shape the Club's vote on playing red-ball cricket.
ReplyDeleteGlamorgan’s membership were asked whether they’d like to donate their subscription to the club or receive a refund, with nearly 90% of respondents so far generously donating their 2020 fees to the Club.
The generosity and loyalty shown by the membership led to Glamorgan voting in favour of a red-ball competition in 2020, as a thank you to those who have supported the Club during these difficult times.
“We voted to play four-day cricket,” said Chief Executive, Hugh Morris. “We think that it’s the format of the game that our Members wanted to see, and our Members have been incredibly loyal to us over a very difficult period.
“Nearly 90% of our Members [to date, as of 7th July] have donated their subscription for this season, which is a phenomenal effort and they need to be rewarded. I’m sure they’d enjoy watching some Championship cricket, albeit on a live stream.”
Morris had previously confirmed at the 1st Virtual Members Forum that the Club were looking to upgrade the live streaming capability at the stadium, with work ongoing before the start of the season.
For those who choose to donate, they will receive a free Centenary Club membership, a new product for the 2021 season in honour of the Club’s 100th year as a first-class county.
Membership to the Centenary Club can be purchased by anyone and as a token of gratitude to 2020 Members who donate, the Club will automatically provide free Centenary Club membership to these fans.
Members who donate will also receive a 25% discount on Early Bird prices for the 2021 season, as a further ‘thank you’ from Glamorgan for their support during these difficult times.
Any Members who have not yet responded will have either received a follow-up email, or will soon receive one to ensure that they have the chance to choose their preference.
Only Notts! don't worry it was my obviously failed attempt at humour. I completely agree with your comments. More so, the dear old Notts club Twitter feed other wise known as Pravda recounts an on this day with him where he produced an incredible match winning spell. The slight problem with this is.........its going back 10 years to 2010. Nothing against him personally, he just doesn't win matches for us for whatever reason when he plays. Wonder if Princess Lisa has read the statement from Glamorgan above and if so what would she make of it ?
ReplyDeleteNo overt signs coming from Lisa and friends to get Trent Bridge open to supporters, unlike Edgbaston and the Oval. Boris might disapprove today, but his mind is a revolving door and is likely to be changed before October. Time to start serving your Nottinghamshire public Lisa, assuming your not on furlough, which from your contribution could be a distinct possibility. In which case apologies for the comments about about your precieved lack of action.
ReplyDeleteFor those unable to get in a 17000 stadium this summer, Crucible tickets go on sale tomorrow for next week's tournament.
DeleteThere's more chance of Forest making the play offs than getting fans into TB this season. We know our, beloved, dear old DoC wasn't furloughed along with Peter Moores, so guess Princess Lisa is the third presumably?
DeleteNotts policy:
ReplyDeleteApril - wait and see
May - furlough some staff and wait and see
June - wait a little longer and see
July - don't mention the members but wait and see, we're releasing fixtures of games members aren't welcome to, eventually.
Serious Q - if Warwickshire's pilot is successful and gains approval from wherever on high, does that mean the possibility of an away fixture to watch against Bears?
York press have blabbed Yorkshire's fixtures 24 hours early. They play Notts at Trent Bridge on Sat Aug 8. Four Saturday starts Aug 1, 8, 15 and 22. Other one Sun Sep 6. Shame watching is the only thing you can't do in society.
ReplyDeleteThe Lancashire game is due to be played at Old Trafford according to the ECB website by which time I will have terminated my 30 years+ membership of the club due to the inconsistent application of social distancing rules that allows the public to attend indoor events (cinemas, gyms, snooker etc.) but cannot attend outdoor events that are portrayed within the cricketing media to be attended by one man and his dog.
