So County Crickets Golden Goose returns this week with reduced attendances for at least until w/c 21st June.
Certainly not ideal, but better than 2020 when every game was like playing at Chelmsford on the fourth day of a championship game - void of spectators.
Reigning Champions Notts Outlaws, kick their season off with Worcestershire Rapids with whom they have lost to in 40% of matches historically.
Last season's final saw Peter Trego play his only match with Outlaws, will he be retained? Unless sneaky Pete (Moores) has smuggled Wasim Imad into the bubble , away from his PSL commitments, it looks likely there will have to be at least one change minimum, from that triumphant side.
Alex Hales
Ben Duckett
Joe Clarke
Samit Patel
Peter Trego
Dan Christian
Tom Moores
Steven Mullaney
Matthew Carter
Jake Ball
(Wasim Imad) Dane Paterson
But might Peter Moores seek to evolve the team? To bring in the explosive Sol Budinger for example or accommodate Lyndon or Liam somehow - I'm sure that they'll be in the squad as will Luke and Zak.

The quarter-finals will be seeded with the higher-seeded team set to host their quarter-final. So, as an example, the top team in the North Group will host the fourth-ranked team from the South Group in the quarter-finals.
The four winners of the quarter-finals (24-27 August) progress to Finals Day. Finals Day will be staged at Edgbaston on 18 September.
Prices for tickets, for non-members, have increased :
Adult in advance now £21 and £26 on the day.
No problem with fixtures as such, but remain convinced Vitality Blast is a better competition in every way than the unwanted monster coming in August
ReplyDeleteVery happy to play at Derby when it is their home match
7 games at Trent Bridge for this years Blast 20
ReplyDeleteHow many games will admit spectators ? How will the tickets be allocated ?
Anyone got "inside information" about possible ticket scenarios?
Evidently the first NINE vulnerable groups should be vaccinated in time for the local Elections on May 6th .
First home match in the BLAST is 9th June . So hopefully there will be a fair number of bums on socially distanced seats?
Interesting times ahead- and plenty of head scratching for the powers that be .
With plenty of ice and snow forecast from Sunday 7th we could all do with some good news and a light showing at the end of a very long tunnel .
Times have moved on apace since I posted that scenario a few months ago . But ticket allocation still seems to be an issue with Blast games at TB prior to “ release day?” of the much vaunted 21st June. With the various potentially delaying variants about the picture of spectator admissions after 21/6/2021 is still far from clear .What will the new TB ground capacity be? 33% ? 50% ? 100%? Or possibly less than the current maximum of 25%.?
ReplyDelete( of course Essex have recently imposed their own ground admission capacity varying from 5% to 2% to 0% depending on the mood of their committee)
Regardless of all the various conditions and scenarios lets wish the Notts boys every success in the Competition. As we are beginning to realise , the Blast Comp is the saviour of many Counties balance sheets and in fact keeps them in business. To me the big question is this -
WILL THE MUCH DELAYED BUT TRUMPETED 100 BALL COMP BE A ROARING SUCCESS OR AM EMBARRASSING DAMP SQUIB!
I still personally dont know anyone who has yet purchased a ticket to see a 100 BALL match
Apparently the Warwickshire League did a club 'hundred' competition back in 2019 - called Warwickshire Sunday Smash, but not sure how it went. Or if it was the same rules. Most club short form is T20.
ReplyDeleteIs Jake recovered now ?
ReplyDeleteIt will be good to see Samit.
True I have campaigned for Liam in CC, but no denying the former is a master of T20.
I'm not convinced that Jake is ready yet. He bowled 2 overs last week and this week has so far bowled just the 2 overs again, without pulling up any trees.
DeleteUpdate Coach, Jake Ball completed 4 overs in the first of the T20 games at Grantham CC (again described as in "Nottingham" by NV play) - figures to forget but hopefully they tried to put themselves under some pressure rather the the young Foxes putting them under pressure. 5 run win - that should in all honesty have been 25+ run win had the bowling been managed better. DeleteTwo or three surprise inclusions in the Worcs Squad!
