Oxford Students 3 Day Friendly at Trent Bridge Draw

Day 3

With the morning session lost to the weather, Oxford declared on their overnight score and gave Nottinghamshire batsmen another opportunity to bat. Alas both Hameed and Duckett missed out for a second time in the game but Notts scored freely and at tea were 123 for 5 - a lead of 242

At tea it was decided to call it a day and the matched was declared drawn.

Day 2

Notts declared on their overnight score. Brett Hutton removed 4 of the students during the morning session. With great credit the students, they battled away for the rest of the day mainly due to Hampshire's Calvin Harrison 121, who had the ignominy of being dismissed by the less than occasional bowling of Ben Slater but also due to Essex 2nd's Moazzam Rizvi 66. Oxford closed 291/9

Day 1

Hameed, Duckett and Clarke all missed out in the morning session.

Slater and Compton made the most of their opportunity at the crease with the former retiring out on 103 to be replaced by skipper Mullaney during the middle session.

At tea 260/3(4) 58 overs

100* retired out by both Compton and Mullaney followed by 51 from Moores meant Notts ended the day at 6pm on 410/4 (7).

  1. Good attacking batting - if we can score like that in the CC, it could help us convert our white-ball prowess into red ball success. Moores averages only 21 in first class cricket, which is low for a number 7 or wicket keeper. This might be through going against his natural attacking instincts - he was great today.

  2. Yes he looked good.
Even an oldie like me has caught up with the streaming which is superb now.
Oxford University stuck at it well to be fair

  3. Heathfield - such boring batting. Someone bowl him a proper bouncer! An 80mph bouncer at the grill would be a tough challenge for an amateur!

  4. Bang goes the theory that you do not get big scores very early season !

I wonder how many centuries have been scored at Trent Bridge in March before this match ?
