Day 1
HUTTON AND PATTERSON-WHITE LEAD RECOVERY
The Nottinghamshire's Regulars fought back well on Day One of their SEC match against Derbyshire. This was the first game at Lady Bay since 2019 to welcome in spectators. The team, largely the same collection of players that made a good account of themselves in the Royal London Cup, suffered the early loss of both openers after being asked to bat first by the visitors.
Matthew Montgomery chased a wide ball that he had no business chasing, was quickly followed by his partner Ben Compton who must have joined the dots and worked out that his future lies elsewhere from next season, especially as Notts announced a loan replacement for Haseeb Hameed this morning, with Sam Northeast coming to Trent Bridge for the rest of the season.
Lyndon James was unlucky to have been adjudged leg before to a high ball angling down legside. But, Liam Patterson-White batting at 3 with Sol Budinger put on a partnership of 79 in 75 minutes, Budinger out just before lunch for 49. Notts 101/4
In the middle session Notts lost just Peter Trego (20), as Patterson-White and Brett Hutton added 102 further runs before tea. 239/5.
Liam Patterson-White (97), Dane Schadendorf (0), Brett Hutton (67), Toby Pettman (0) and Tom Barber (0) then allowed the initiative to slip back to the visitors in the evening session leaving Fateh Singh 20 not out*. Sam Conners 3/46, Julius Sumeraurer 3/42, Luis Reece 2/38 reaped the most rewards for Derbyshire. Notts 282 all out
There was enough time for 15 overs, in which Derbyshire had lost Harry Came (0) and Tom Wood (9) wickets for Hutton and Pettman. Derbyshire 32/2.
Point of interest: Julius Thomas Silvester Sumeraurer is a 20 year old RFM, born in Botswana and has represented Jersey at u19 and senior levels.
