Nottinghamshire Members Forum 2021

There will be a Members' Forum on 13th September via Zoom.

Members have been requested to indicate an expression of itheir nterest and to submit any questions that they may have for the panel.

When receiving, what was effectively a Meeting Request, my initial questions were: 1/ At what time? 6.30 PM 2/ Who are the panel?

Once you've submitted your interest, there's no going back to add a question later, as the Email disappears from your inbox, as ithis is a Meeting Request, not a traditional email - so be warned!

Oddly the Forum takes place when League Leaders Notts are away at Southampton

  1. Fixtures for 2022 a burning issue, I suspect.

Two international matches at Trent Bridge are in June and very early July.

So unless a decent number of days's play for members in July and August, suspect our mood will go from grim to sulphorous.

  3. So we won’t see the club playing at Trent Bridge for nigh on three months in the summer ( again) . Folk will decide for themselves if a membership is worth it. It will be interesting to see the numbers.

  4. What a very strange scheduling for this event ? Guess being on zoom it doesn't matter too much but why was it not held at our last home game or even the final home game versus the Tykes. For the first time in about 3 years there's not really that much to whinge about in terms of the teams performances. Yes, the qtr final was particularly disappointing but it happens in t20 and it happens to the other counties also and not just Notts. Presumably the main area of concern will be the 2022 domestic fixtures. The days of getting value out of your membership in the way we used to is sadly now gone forever. It is STILL good value as long as you are able to get down to the games which is a pretty obvious statement. But compared to other sports in 2022 and playing mostly at a world class venue with good facilities it still represents good value for money in my opinion. Unlike other sports, of course, the massive downsides to this are games are never guaranteed due to the weather(and now Covid) and some are played midweek which is not always great for working members to attend. At least, at present, the t20 games are included and we can sit wherever we want with some brilliant views. Lancashire for example charge a lot more for some elevated views at their venue.

  5. As I write this our genial match commentator has just mentioned that 40 years ago today we beat Glamorgan in 2 days to secure the County Championship for the 1981 season, previously winning it back in the day in 1929. The Princess has kept the membership prices low again for 2022 I see but I guess hiking them up would have been foolhardy as they try to entice back the 2,000 odd members the club have apparently lost this season. There will be two prestigious trophies up for grabs over the next 2 weeks the County Championship itself and then the Bob Willis trophy. Whilst the fixtures must be something of a nightmare for the ECB, especially now their new flagship competition has thrown a spanner in the works, do both of the seasons finalies really have to start on a midweek Tuesday ? There must be a lot of members and supporters of the respective clubs that are unable to attend both of these games which is slightly ironic as these are the round of fixtures that ultimately decide everything in the red ball season
