The man who perhaps would have been the last of the Kolpaks for Nottinghamshire, will return for a second season as overseas player when he arrives back to these shores from Eastern Province in 2022.

Great news , probably the best Dane in county cricket.
ReplyDeleteDane and Fletch get on well together personally and are great bowling in tandem along with Hutton . The bowling attack for Notts looks nice and settled and with good penetration - and they keep going - without heads dropping .
ReplyDeleteGreat !
ReplyDeleteWe now have a real match winning attack.
Huge stride forward in 2021, hopefully silverware next Summer.
Hope he can score a few more runs as well, as has been a bit of a rabbit, but great bowler
ReplyDeleteIts so important these days that sides can bat down to Number 11 . How many times do we see a situation where Notts need 15/20 runs with just number 10 or 11 to come in . Dane and Fletch and Hutton can certainly whack the ball to the boundary from time to time . They are strong men and have the physical power. Perhaps all three might spend a little longer in the nets during the coming winter months and face longer at the crease.Free scoring lower order batsmen can make all the difference over a full season . Or just being able to hold an end up can often win a match.
ReplyDeleteWhen is the 2022 cricket fixture list being released ?
Will make mighty interesting reading again and plenty of head scratching from the fans and Management.
Interesting news about Patto, England will probably breath a sigh of relief that one of the Aussies best bowlers will not be facing them this winter. Mind you they do still have the likes of Cummings, Starc and Hazlewood so perhaps that relief will be short lived!
ReplyDeleteWill Notts be interested in Patto for 2022? Whilst it would be nice to have someone of his quality available it looks unlikely to happen given the way Notts have been rebuilding
There is more of an emphasis on home grown players of late, Would Notts really risk their progress for short term gain at the risk of upsetting what looks to be a team developing a fine spirit of togetherness?
Its certainly a question that wiil give the management a great deal of food for thought.
So Jamie set to continue in domestic cricket ?
ReplyDeleteWould we be able to have the 2 Pattos (with different spellings !) ?Confused on that one.
Total respect for what he did for us, but I feel best not.
He already was not the same in 2019, as 2 years earlier.
A clear injury risk these days, as he admits openly, and do not want to upset the good attack we now have.
Real shame for the lad, was absolutely devastating for us in his first spell. But surely, now, you just couldn't take the risk with him. Look at his stats from his second spell with us an the fact at just 31 he has retired from international cricket really tells you everything you need to know. It's not as though he could bowl within himself and cut his pace down like an Andre Adams and still be devastating. Only have good memories about Patto on the whole. He is no mug with the willow either and was 100% committed to the Notts cause like his brother Darren who was brilliant for us also.
ReplyDeleteIt might be the 2 overseas rule continues post-Kolpak for all domestics formats
