Really hoping at least 2 of the RLs group matches at Trent Bridge.
ReplyDeleteSo do I but ,Don’t get your hopes up too much Rich, it looks like another season of cricket away from Trent Bridge in the height of summer to me.
ReplyDeleteWell, last season the timing of the 1st Test Match Quinton de Kocked things up for us but most other venues for the Hundred still played at least 1 RLODC at their main home venue so I am hopeful we will have at least one game at the Home of Cricket. The downside to this could possibly be that Princess Lisa would almost certainly designate it as the family lack of fun day I would suggest. This is where an extra 11,000 people are drawn to the venue for a days entertainment for the princely sum of £1 only never to return again(pretty much like the Hundred then ?) until the next time it happens. Best case scenario to me would be 2 games at Trent Bridge and a game each at both Welbeck and Grantham. There's simply no need to play a home game at Direby again presumably? Despite the ECB doing its best to downgrade the competition I found it particularly enjoyable last season and being played in August you have every chance of the British weather being kind for the games. Also, surely a bonus for a lot the final is being played on a Saturday which means it's not yet another days leave being needed for working people. The fact the ECB couldn't sell tickets for a game last year played on a thursday with an original billed starting time of 11am tells you everything about the suits and blazers that oversee the game. Drastically reduce admission prices and start at 1pm and you can suddenly sell appx 7,000 tickets a lot at very short notice. I shall look forward to attending the final again as last year was a particularly enjoyable afternoon.
ReplyDeleteLong live the 50 over game!
