Loughborough University Friendly at Trent Bridge

Those new to Nottsview might like to know that there are more photohgraphs from this fixture on Facebook just search for Harry Butler Daft.

Day 3

Haseeb Hameed scored 100* retired from 120 balls.

Day 2

A good work-out for the Notts bowlers today; Loughborough students eventually dismissed for 238. 3 wickets each for Hutton and Fletcher.

Day 1

The Nottinghamshire XI had a bright first day of the cricket season 2022, as the hosts scored at a healthy rate for most of the day on a hybrid wicket on the extreme of the square on the William Clarke side.

The students exercised nine different bowlers in the 84.3 overs they bowled, Will Rogers being the pick of the bunch, statically, with 3/60 as Notts racked-up 440/9

The declaration was made once Joey Evison had made his century (103* from 142 balls) but the innings also saw fifties from: Ben Duckett 61 (50), Lyndon James 54 (80) and Zak Chappell 63 (58)

Loughborough students closed on 16/1.

I trust that those that made it down to the Bridge enjoyed their day in the spring sunshine?

So what do we want from the 2022 cricket season?

Obviously Notts will storm to the Division 2 championship, win the T20 Blast whilst winning and hosting the one day cup final, with a sell-out crowd, but what else are we expecting to happen?

Lyndon James will score multiple hundreds in 2022 perhaps

Ben Duckett and Joe Clarke earn England International call-ups through weight of runs

Eoin Morgan quits cricket to become Tom Harrison's PA and so Alex Hales returns to the England T20 side

April is a total wash-out so fixtures are hastily reschuled for August - relegating the Hundred to late evening fixtures, franchises being then reliant on drafts from European Cricket Leagues as County players opt out of franchises to concentrate on proper cricket.

I would like to see Zak Chappell remain injury-free, build some confidence and become a proper menace to rival county batsmen.

As season starts with a friendly against the students of Loughborough, what are we investing our time hoping to see this summer?

  1. That is good stuff you are taking !

I am equally on another Planet, in hoping that ECB will start listening to us !

Would love to witness a special innings again. Maybe a double century for Notts.

  2. My question to you all and I’m hoping to hear the traditional early season greeting of “ did you winter well?”

  3. Yes thanks nottsviewer.
It’s one of the quiet but early season traditions that I enjoy hearing, a bit like the first cuckoo of spring and in decades gone by the call of the old scorecard seller around the ground.

  4. Remember him well, nice man, and he could shift those scorecards fast ! Sold Forest programmes out of cricket season.

Have tweeted Sir Andrew Strauss, asking politely thatit should be confirmed pre the behind closed doors domestic cricket inquiry, that 18 counties will be retained, and promotion/relegation will mean exactly that.

Copied in our good skipper here and Cricket Supporters Association.
