Lancashire to play Royal London Cup QF against Notts at Blackpool
Lancashire Cricket will play Notts Outlaws in the Royal London Cup quarter-final at Blackpool Cricket Club’s Stanley Park, this Friday (26 August).
The Red Rose finished second in Group B to secure a home quarter-final and, with Emirates Old Trafford unavailable due to the Test match between England and South Africa, the Club has opted to retain home advantage by hosting the match in Blackpool.
Lancashire have already played three matches at the venue this season, winning two – including last week’s record List A run chase against Northants Steelbacks – with one no result.
The game will start at 11am and will be broadcast live on Lancs TV.
Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton said: “We have enjoyed a superb group stage, winning five of our matches, to secure ourselves a home quarter-final.
“We have been aware for a while that it would not be possible to play at Emirates Old Trafford, due to a clash with the Test match, and I am delighted that we have been able to secure Blackpool for what I am sure will be another superb day of cricket by the coast.
“Being able to retain home advantage is hugely significant for us and I would like to thank everybody at Blackpool CC for their support, along with Lancashire Cricket staff.
“To be able to put on this event alongside a Test match is a remarkable effort and one that is greatly appreciated by the players and cricket staff alike.”

ReplyDeleteShould be at

ReplyDeleteThe Friday before a bank holiday weekend...
DeleteWell spotted re the stag. Good on lancs , they’ll be calling a batsman a batsman next . The friendly steward on the pavilion was proud to remind me of their Harold Larwood links ,but It lagged it down with rain and the match was abandoned mid afternoon last time we were there.foxy
ReplyDeleteEarliest memories of Old Trafford is going there for the first time when Lanky had that great one-day side and seeing Wasim Akram bowling to a young Usman Afzaal in a knockout qtr final i think. We were facing side on to the play before they turned the square around and it looked an antiquated, old ground in need of refurbishment………..look at it now.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if will be streamed free for everyone as it states being shown on Lancs TV. I know, before everything changed due to covid, they were already one of the few Counties offering a ‘digital membership.

DeleteSpeaking of Lancashire I urge you to read or post Tanya aldred’s article on page 40 of this mornings guardian “ Lancashire ‘s awkwardly squad battle for county cricket ‘s future “. Foxy
