With no county fixtures for the 2023 season known or even the structure of the competitions finalised, Trent Bridge would like to entice you to re-new your membership by offering priority booking for International fixtures next "summer".
So what juicy carrots have they got to tempt current members?
I kid you not!
A September T20 against New Zealand takes star billing!!
Not so long ago Notts were playing Ireland in the Pro 40 at the height of summer, but all Trent Bridge gets in 2023 is an ODI well into autumn.
We can't assume that the Royal London Final at Trent Bridge will fall between these two Internationals either, as that competition could be done and dusted even before summer has started in 2023.
Some might point out that Trent Bridge does have a Test, a women's Ashes Test no less, but I'm not sure that that will gather many extra members for Notts CCC in a surge for tickets. Times are changing for women's cricket, but not that seismicly!
Is it the case that Trent Bridge with its lower capacity, doesn't raise enough revenue for the cash thirsty ECB from premium games such as the Ashes?
The redevelopment of the William Clarke stand is long over due but those at the top table would have you believe that the quaint, dated, listed, not fit for modern purposes but well loved pavilion is the most pressing redevelopment.
By way of comparison, Edgbaston would have take part in their lottery for tickets.
With games against New Zealand and against Ireland in September, the International-free August appears bewildering.
So, the worst kept secret in cricket is out.no ashes tests in August, in fact no cricket in August. 31 July last day of the ashes ( if we don’t beat Australia inside 3 days ) Ireland just before the clocks go back, put the floodlights on and we can play them at Gaelic football in the morning and hurling in the afternoon.
ReplyDeletePeople keep trying to tell me membership is still good value. It isn’t.200 quid for a husband and wife subscription, no county championship in the summer, no cricket in August and no ashes test, not for me it isn’t. Foxy
Brings a new meaning to the word "underwhelming"!
ReplyDeleteIf the Blast is in May, then I won't be renewing our three memberships!
I can't think that all the local businesses are happy with that offering either!
Yorkshire have a July Ashes Test Match, unbelieveable not. 6 months ago they were banned from having any International cricket at Headingley, now they get the golden ticket for any county CEO.
ReplyDeletePathetic Lisa
ReplyDeleteThe ECB only care about money now!
ReplyDeleteStrauss review published, and no international cricket in August. Just so they can concentrate on the gimmick cricket!
International cricket in September....well good luck with that!
