Alex Hales Retires From International Cricket

Alex Hales retires from England to run away to the global T20 circus...

If he were 21 now, what would he do?

Alex Hales is in his final final year of his current Notts contract, if he is to concentrate now on milking the current global system, which can be lucrative, yet is chaotic, fluid and dominated by Indian franchises, where does that leave Notts? Alex, for all his trying, hasn't ever broken into the IPL big time.

Alex's connections to Notts, have opened the door many of his franchise gigs to date, he and Notts need to remember that if the negotiation stage has already happened.

After all is said and done, who will be the last to be told if Alex Hales has already played his final match for Notts Outlaws? The Notts supporters, that's who!

  1. As with Broad, how much do they really care about Notts members/supporters. I keep seeing a big zero in my mind's eye.

  2. 80 NOT OUT

Alec’s star is waning . No longer the exciting match winner . Every dog has his day .
What will NOTTS offer him ?
    A one year contract ?
    A two year contract ?
Both on reduced terms to his current remuneration ?
Or will he simply be released alongside one or two old timers and very occasional performers ?
But thanks Alex for some great memories over the years at Trent Bridge . Opening partnerships with him and Ricky Wessels were often mind blowing . Stand to be corrected - but at a T20 match at TB the pair scored over 100 from the first 6 overs!!??
    Beat that .

  3. Saying on Cricinfo, if he was 21, like Will Smeed, he would only play T20 etc, throughout his career.

Let’s face it. A fast bowler playing only white ball 20 over and 10 over cricket will probably have a longer career than if bowling 20/25 overs in a single playing red ball . If at the same time it’s more lucrative then cricket has a big problem looming .

    Typo .
“ bowling 20/25 overs in single innings playing red ball”
