NCCC News: Newell Interview/SEC Notts 2s win by 412 runs

02/05

Mick Newell "agreeable interview" - same old script to cover his own ar*e

Second XI had another heavy win, this time against Yorkshire at Lady Bay scorecard, four wickets apiece for Fletch and LPW.

29/04

Peter emerges from his bunker for a soft Pravda interview, "frustrating" x4 !!!

25/04

Derbyshire 2s dismissed for 219, Notts victorious by an innings and 340 runs

Star with the ball Liam Patterson-White 9/81

"Liam Patterson-White’s match figures of 13 for 93 against Derbyshire surpassed the previous Nottinghamshire second eleven best of 13 for 99 by Andy Carter in 2009." - news of the twos

Sammy King (116*) another centurion before Steven Mullaney declared on 688/8, a narrow lead of 559 at half way.

Batting on allowed a Derbyshire golf course and dining establishment to come into play when Jack Morley bowled the James Hayes. If you know, you'll know it. What use the extra 19 runs will serve is unclear (since King's landmark).

24/04

Centuries today for Tom Moores and Tom Loten at Lady Bay. Tom M off 64 balls and Tom L off 185 balls, against Derbyshire 2s.

This game is being streamed by the TB Stream Team, check it out on Youtube.

23/04

You will have received the Email, probably, from Trent Bridge proclaiming the magnificent innings partnership between Joe Clarke and Will Young of 392* containing the two wagon-wheels (below).

Joe Clarke's 213* is his third century in as many matches and is the seventh player to achieve this feat for Nottinghamshire historically (though several have done it twice).  Prior to Clarke's trio of consecutive tons, Dave Hussey did the same in 2004, the only other time this has been achieved this century.

Joe Clarke                     2024*
Dave Hussey                 2004
Clive Rice (4)                1981
Walter Keeton (4)          1949
Joe Hardstaff jnr (5)      1948
Joe Hardstaff jnr            1939
Walter Keeton (5)          1933
Dodge Whysall (4)        1924
Jimmy Iremonger (4)    1904
Jimmy Iremonger (4)    1901

You may like to note that historically that if you get three tons in three matches consecutively, there is a greater than 50% chance that you'll make it four in a row, so fingers crossed for Joe at Edgbaston to keep the sequence going.

What a legend Joe Hardstaff was . I went to High Pavement Gram School and Joe,s son was in my class in about 1956. Nice lad , tall with blond hair and told us stories about his Dads career. R

  4. Yes I hadn’t arrived at the time but Sir Toby of Pettman pulled up lame after bowling 2.1 overs in Derbyshire’s first innings

  5. Yes, agree Rich, you can only play whatever the opposition standard is - you’ve still got to do it, so very well bowled LPW on that 9 wicket haul - it shows the huge gulf in class between players in and around our first team in comparison to the second team of a small Div2 County in Derbyshire with regard to both LPW and Tumbling Major Tom yesterday - this is what they have to do when dropped, take it on the chin, swallow your pride, stick your chest out and produce match-winning performances for the stiffs and put pressure on those first eleven picks to keep performing
