NCCC Player Contracts 2025 Peter Moores For 3 More Years

02/08

News of Peter Moores new three year contract sees Matt Montgomery depart for the Outlaws rest home down the A52 - it's all at your Co-op now!

Monty will initially join Derbyshire on loan for the Metro Cup, joining permanently at the end of the season.

The supporters will have to take this turn of events on the chin eh!

There's no disputing what the useless DoC says:

“We know that players want to come to Nottinghamshire because of Peter and his coaching staff, and we know that Peter and his staff make players better.”

BUT...

01/08

Rumours surround: Joe Clarke, Matt Montgomery, Haseeb Hameed and Peter Moores -will they all be departing?

07/07

As part of his signing for the Knight Rider franchise, Alex Hales has signed up for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, moving from Desert Vipers in ILT20. If anyone is remotely interested.

20/06

It was all left very vague, but we were told that Notts would be without Kyle Verreynne during the mid-Blast Championship rounds at the start of the season. Notts should be announcing the signing of Indian keeper/batsman Ishan Kishan sooooonish.

As Pravda says:

India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has signed for Nottinghamshire, subject to international clearance, on a short-term deal covering the next two Rothesay County Championship fixtures.

Ishan, 26, is a former Asia Cup and U19 World Cup winner with India, and has represented his nation at senior level in all three international formats.

He will be eligible for selection for the upcoming Championship fixtures against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge and Somerset in Taunton.

The left-hander will serve as Kyle Verreynne’s replacement while the World Test Championship-winning South African is away playing a two-Test series in Zimbabwe.

Because there's too much cricket in the calendar for professional cricketers' wellbeing, bizzarely (if you believe the too much cricket doctrine) Joe Clarke has entered and been successful in the draft for the next Big Bash. He will again be part of Peter Moores' Melbourne Stars squad. #moneymoneymoney

International, jetsetting, global tax exile, Alex Hales did not make the draft, however.

13/05

Daniel Sams #95

12/05

Ben Duckett extends his contract until 2027.

10/04

Lyndon James renews his deal until 2027

31/03

A new shirt number for Tom Giles 92 48

28/03

Now Pravda announce the signing of Francis Moore

Signing

Background

Moises Henriques has announced his retirement from First Class Cricket

26/03

Farhan Ahmed has had a wholloping ninety knocked-off his squad number and is now the new holder of the number SEVEN (if my eyes didn't deceive me with pictures from the stream from Grace Road).

When Chris Read retired, I'm fairly sure the Club said they would honour his 20 years service by retiring HIS squad number.

That didn't last long and Ben Compton wore shirt number 07 for his year before he made his move to Canterbury.

So much for retiring the superstitious, popular number.

Last season Kyle Verreynne wore the lucky 7 shirt. What number will he don this year?

25/03

Spotted on this year's "school photos" - a Francis Moore. RHB, RFM

18 years old, Millfield School and Notts 2s, Warwickshire 2s, Burridge CC in the Southern Premier League

Currently at Cardiff UCCE, as seen below

He and Freddie will have to have a game of Top Trumps to see who keeps the #44.

Pravda advert for new training kit reveals that Conor McKerr has bagged squad number 3

17/02

Alex Hales, out of contract since last month, it has been announced today will not be part of Notts Outlaws' T20 Blast campaign in 2025. Alex, married in the winter and is now living abroad (the reasons given). Mick Newell says that the door remains open for Hales to return in the future. We'll see!

Hales has signed for the Knight Rider franchises playing in the MLC and CPL this summer, not that Notts sources have said so.

#10 becomes vacant, so who might snaffle a new number?

07/02

Mohammed Abbas signed for the initial period after Fergus O'Neil has left (May) and then perhaps in September - six championship games.

When O'Neil was signed, the official line was that they looking to strengthen the batting through signing bowlers that could bat a bit as well, someone better than the Great Dane in the batting department. Scroll forward one month and Mo replaces Fergus as overseas bowler, but a fail to see how Mo is a significant step-up in batting class from Dane.

A signing six years in the making for Mick

Today's signing will be Shoaib Akhtar, perhaps it's never too late Mick.

20/12

Tom Moores has signed a new white ball only contract, until the end of 2026.

Pravda spins it

12/12

Ben Slater extends contract to 2027

As does Dillon Pennington

10/12

Notts have announced the signing of Australian 23 year old prospect Fergus O'Neill, a fast bowler who also bats a bit. Owing to visa restrictions, Fergus' contract lasts for only 28 days (during April 2025).

Talking on Pravda, Peter Moores said

“He will, in effect, replace Dane Paterson, who won’t be with us for the start of the season as his re-entry into the Test arena and our desire to strengthen our batting means we have opted for a slightly different style of player.

“It is worth highlighting what a fantastic servant Dane has been to the club, though. His record is outstanding; he has built a great legacy with Notts in just a few years and remains an immensely popular character in the dressing room.”

So Dane is returning...???

06/12

Kyle Verreynne will return to Nottinghamshire in 2025 for a longer stint in the County Championship. Pravda

25/11

Daniel Sams having agreed not to return to Essex after 2024, signs for the Outlaws' 2025 campaign

14/11

Fateh Singh released from his contract (to sign for Worcestershire). Who will take the squad number eleven now?

01/11

Freddie McCann extends his contract until 2027.

10/10/24

James Hayes signalled the last of the current staff's dealing for the current year.

However, Alex Hales will do whatever he wants to do; having a voodoo spell over the current Director of Cricket. His last contract was signed in February 2024 and ran for half of the T20 Blast group stages

A cloak of secrecy shrouds the contracts of the two captains, why is that?

  1. If Hales is offered anything that would be appalling

    1. In Mr Newell's defence, Tom Moores' new terms might now be commensurate with his actual abilities and he is now just part time. We'll never know the details.

    2. Wow. White ball contract. Well done Dad! The guys not county level. Says everything you need to know about Notts ccc at this time.

  3. It's a fudge. Nowhere near good enough for CC. Now recognised at long last and will not appear, even as specialist batsman (!). Not good enough for T20 but being moderately better at that saves him. Good non nepotism management would have seen the ridiculous 2025 contract paid off and the door shown with Dane promoted.

    1. Absolutely, spot on. Fudge being the operative word. He isn't good enough for any form of first class cricket, either as a batsman or a wicket keeper.
Schadendorf will continue to be marginalised with the signing of the South African keeper.
Odds are, that we will be stuck with both of the Moores's for two more years.Total madness.

  4. A white ball contract allows players to pursue overseas opportunities such as the Pakistan Super League that overlaps with the English season without the need for a No Objection certificate from the ECB. Would expect to see other players within the county game move to white ball contracts to take advantage of these opportunities.

  5. I don't think the prestigious /High paid franchise leagues would touch moores. Prob play in the Notts prem league in between white ball commitments with Notts.

  6. Not sure he would get in a prem side when he played for wymeswold he didn’t keep wicket

  9. Hi
Great news about monty joining us at Derby. Think timing obviously shows a rift. I'm led to believe we are signing another also but let's wait and see.

    1. Timing shows a reason why he thinks his opportunities will be limited. If you're not a Moores' approved signing you've got to fight for your place at Notts and if you are, you get a free pass.

  10. I really thought Notts would go for a fresh start coach wise. He's a very abrupt individual in my experience.

    1. He has a closed mind to certain players. There are other talented players out of contract this year at TB that will be on the market for a gig elsewhere - Derby would be the easiest move for all of them.

Does Peter Moores have a closed mind when it comes to certain players ? No matter what they do he will not pick them . They get fed up and frustrated - and leave for pastures new .
Then we await the DOC and PM to sign up over the top semi vintage players who always seem to break down . Often even before the season has started or after one game . We have seen it happen so many times over the years . Surprised PM has got a THREE YEAR deal . I would have thought TWO YEARS max !?

    1. I'm disappointed rather than surprised with PM's 3 year deal. Newell must have been feeling the pressure from the other uncertainties in his life, so went for a quick fix to stop the speculation about senior players being unsettled by Moores' staying/not staying. Agents whispering to pet journos probably behind it all and Newell lost his nerve and caved in to Moores demands. A 3 year deal, with a Tr*nt R*ckets August bonus, use of Newell's office three days a week during the off season, the key code to Lisa's office to use the deluxe coffee machine, the keys to the TR bus year round and tickets to all the H*ndred games for young Tom. He's 63 later this year, this will be his last contract(?)

  12. Take a step back and look at this season folks. Notts haven't won a champo game since May. The T20 competition was the again a flop. The guy is turning his back on Notts this month for that other team. Moores is being rewarded for his failures by his mate. A total disgrace.
