As feared the selection of three uncapped seamers cost Notts a place in Twenty/20 semi-finals. Their combined X-rated bowling figures of 11-0-115-2 do not need any further explanation. If Notts are celebrating a championship triumph in mid-September the amazing omission of Andre Adams will be forgotten, anything less and this night will be remember for all the wrong reasons despite this competition being very much of the Mickey Mouse variety.

For tomorrow's Q/F v Hampshire, Darren Pattinson has been ruled out to be replaced by Jake Ball, who will represent a little known quantity to them apart from the CB40 last week and what Billy the mole Shafayat can tell them.

Craig Kieswetter falling on the first ball to an Alastair Cook catch off Tim Phillips' bowling and his usual fellow opener but today's no.3 Marcus Trescothick went for 19.

Eagles in reply lost their first wicket early 9/1, which quickly became 9/2 as Ravi Bopara went for a 2 ball duck. At half-way house, Essex had lost Alastair Cook for 28, 55/5. With 5 overs to go and with James Foster out for 26, Essex 105/7. Essex's hopes in the hands of Ryan ten Doeschate, over#18 went for 20, bowled by Alfonso Thomas, 29 required from the last two overs.

Sussex Sharks were put into bat at Hove in the third game against Gloucestershire Gladiators who feature Ian Saxelby, the would-be Notts fans favourite, in a different life perhaps.


In the first over, Saxelby removes Chris Nash but once Matt Prior was to the crease the momentum swung to Sussex's advantage. After Prior's demise, Murray Goodwin and Scott Styris took the baton in tandem homing-in on 200. Over 18 went for 38 runs (including 2 no balls and a dot ball), James Fuller the unfortunate bowler, Scott Styris the demolishing batter, 200 was surpassed with ease.

In an audition for Alex Hales' spot, subject to a Lions call-up, Turner and Edwards opened up with a 112 partnership. Notts declared on 351/9 and the Welsh were 58/0 at stumps.

Voges Excels as Saltires are soundly beaten

Notts strolled to another easy limited overs victory today as Scotland were defeated by 88 runs at sunny Trent Bridge in front of a crowd of around 3,000. Chris Read who had recovered from his injury scare yesterday won the toss and elected to bat on the same wicket as used for the Surrey championship game. Mullaney was rested and was replaced by Graeme White.

Patto Turns Renegade

Banjo Pattinson was announced today as a "home-based player" signatory by Melbourne Renegades for the 2012/13 Big Bash, effectively changing his status from English to Australian.


Notts DofC said "it was unlikely Pattinson would return next year in any event". So far this year he has only featured in the T20 games and some of the CB40 ones, returning from a back stress fracture. "Darren's decision changes his status as far as I am aware but with his age and the age of his kids I think it was unlikely he would be looking to stay beyond this season,"  Newell added.


Let's hope that Patto goes out in a blaze of glory with the Outlaws then!
