Hales storm rocks Sydney

Straight off the the plane, Alex Hales played for the Renegades against Michael Lum's Sixers at the SCG and it it was Hales that bombarded the boundary taking the game out of Sixers reach.
With 8 sixes and 5 fours Alex made a 52 ball 89 dumping Sixers out of the competition. Michael Lumb made 21 and Darren Pattinson 3/34 as the host fell 29 runs short of Renegades' 178/5.

Derbyshire are said to be investigating the possibility of signing Shiv Chanderpaul............. someone will be required to carry their batting after all.
Michael Lumb guided Sydney Sixers to a comfortable 5 wicket win over Brisbane Heat with 61 not out, giving Sixers a lifeline in the competition.

In the Sydney derby, Sixers out beefed the Thunder, stealing a 4 wicket win with 6 balls remaining.
After Michael Lumb's return to the competition after his England exploits, Sixers have changed to their fortunes, Dan Hughes in only his second T20, the hero today. Lumby made a rapid 20 from opener for Sixers whereas former Outlaw, Dirk Nannes failed to halt the defeat for Thunder with 3/24. Sheep, Usman Khawaja hammered an unbeaten 66 for Thunder which proved ultimately not to be enough.
Sixers have now done the double over their closest rivals.

Captain Morgan wins it

At Wankhede Stadium, England won the toss putting India into bat.
India posted a competitive 177/8, 38s from Dhoni and Kohli, no bowl for either Samit or debutant Root.
Batting through the dew Hales and Lumb set England on their journey with 25/0 off the first 2 overs.
The Notts pair took England to 80 before Lumb was stumped for 50.
Hales (42) became Yuvraj Singh's third wicket 123/3 to be replace by Samit who didn't last long, falling for 9
Morgan and Buttler took England to needing 3 off the last ball ..................... after a prolonged wait, Captain Morgan crashed the Dinda ball inda stand for SIX.
With Stuart Broad sent home from India along with his heel, Eoin Morgan takes the reins for the T20s this week............... a rum choice?
It has also been decided to rest James Anderson and Jonathan Trott for the ODIs and bring in Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler

Newell uses his Ed (announcement today?)
It is widely reported here in England (Bristol Press) and in Australia that Ed Cowan, Gloucestershire target, is one of the Australuan players in Mick Newell's sights. Cowan would be seen as swap with David Hussey mid-season.
Indeed, George Dobell states that Cowan would be available for the first 7 County games of the season before the Trent Bridge Test, ideal preparation for the Australian, and a chance for Swann and Broad to work out ways to spring his wicket too.

A rumour on the Twittersphere suggests that today is the day that Notts will announce Ed Cowan has been Ed-hunted and will be playing in English conditions for 7 games before the first test next spring for Notts,
Outlaws Head to Head 2
Controversy and confusion followed this result.In a game that brought Outlaws David Hussey and Adam Voges head to head, Melbourne Stars easily dispatched Perth Scorchers in a rain affected game. The real Star was Malinga the Slinga with 6/7 from his 4 overs as Perth were all out for 69 inside 16 overs, Voges made 14.
When the rain arrived in the Stars' third over they had scored 29/0 (Luke Wright 23*).
A revised target of just 6 from 5 overs was set on resumption of play by DL, so when play restarted, just one ball was required ........................ according to the officials.
But don't you need 5 overs to constitute a game, what if Stars had lost 5 or 6 wickets in the next 3 overs, what would the DL revised score be then?
