Chris Nash ton and Foxes capitulate!

Chris Nash has made the most of the sunshine at Hove after Sussex chose to bat on winning the toss. Nash with Luke Wright put on 145 for the 5th wicket which held Notts up.

The Notts eleven includes the two Lions plus AV at the expense of Steven Mullaney, Swann and Broad but both Gurney and Carter play too with Edwards left redundant.

Sussex First Innings 304/8 (95.5 ov)

Chris Nash 128
Luke Wright 81
Naved Arif 24 not out

Samit Patel 3/66

Are Notts a spinner light going into this game and might Fletch had been better suited than Harry G or Andy C ............................ discuss!

At the close Notts have maximum bowling points and have the last pair at the wicket tomorrow morning - a good effort in testing conditions, I look forward to the eye witness report later on over the weekend. Another positive for Notts, Murray (Bogey man) Goodwin failed; in truth he's been failing all season, 39 total in eight innings.

An observation:

The report which has eventually arrived on the Notts website is full of quotes from coach, Wayne Noon, with no mention of the DoC; might this be an indication as to Mick Newell's future role, off to Chittagong sooner rather than later?

BEARS SET 222

At Oval the league chasing Warwickshire team have been set 222 to win at the Oval. Gareth Batty took a sixfer in the first innings and has 3 more in the second already.

Latest 124/4

TEN IN THE MATCH for Batty

at stumps 181/5,  41 runs still needed, Tiny Tim Ambrose 78 not out, Batty 4/56 - Bears look set for victory tomorrow morning.

Middlesex have a taller order at Liverpool tomorrow, needing 400 more runs with all 10 wickets intact to beat the reigning champions.
SHRECK GETS HIS MAN AGAIN AS FOXES FOLD

Charlie Shreck bagged Will Jefferson in a mirror image to the first innings dismissal (LBW). Foxes slumped badly facing a daunting deficit and weren't up to the task; only a career best 27 from Nathan Buck saw them reach three figures. The Foxes were eventually put out of their misery at 113, a defeat by an innings and 279 runs for Kent inside 3 days.

The Sheep have also won inside 3 days, for the second game on the bounce. 10 wickets the margin over Essex, 8  wickets in the game for David Wainwright.

Congratulations to Bilal Shafayat who has secured a one year deal with Hampshire after impressing during a trial spell earlier this month.
