Remove the competitive edge (with no prospect of qualification) and there isn't that much of a gulf between the weaker Test nations and their stronger Associate counterparts, when there's only pride at stake. On the showing since last September, England fit the bill as a weaker nation; Netherlands have had their own ups and downs of late but ended this tournament on the up.
England have been wretched all winter but have still managed to find a way to top it all off - losing to the Netherlands, badly! The only silver lining could be the the impact on Ashley Giles' job prospects - previously it looked as through the ECB were sleepwalking towards giving Giles the top coaching job; less so now(?).
The result was a 45 run win for the Dutch as England were wiped out for 88, Mudassar Bukhari 3/12
The flags will be flying and pasties consumed in celebration in Truro - as I'm sure Girdler has suggested.
Game 30
The most remarkable bowling of the came from Rangana Herath 3.3-2-3-5 as Sri Lanka bowled out New Zealand for 60, Kane Williamson made 42 of them.
