GREETINGS FROM THE EASTS

Last Saturday I enjoyed a visit to Waverley Oval with good friends David Silverman and John Hutchison. It is the home ground of Sydney Grade side Eastern Suburbs. The ground is located off Bondi Road and on a couple of the attached photos you can just see the ocean.

 'Easts' as they are known played host to Northern Districts.It was a 50 overs a side game in which ND posted 184. Easts had Middlesex and former England batsman Sam Robson opening. He played superbly to notch, an unbeaten century, as Easts won by 9 wickets. Robson had scored 95 the week before v. North Sydney .

It was a gloriously sunny day and at tea we enjoyed a chat with Steve O'Shaughnessey who was one of the umpires. Steve hails from Bury and was keen to have a strong cup of tea at the break - a jovial and friendly man.
