Countdown to Friday

The fat lady has her feet-up, resting her vocal chords but whom she sings for on Friday is still Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Countdown to the showdown taking place at the far end of the yellow brick road, at the Emerald (City), Headingley. Outlaws have had most of their main protagonists firing in recent games but not always in total unison; so have we now got that illusive momentum; momentum to take us to the quarters and on to Finals Day?

Birmingham beat Lightning on Wednesday and they will still remain interested in the competition, being one point behind Outlaws before the Friday North Group finale, needing to beat Rapids and hoping for an NR at Headingley or a Vikings win after losing on Thursday.

Yorkshire Vikings play whipping boys Steelbacks on Thursday, where victory at Wantage Road would leave the game at Emerald Headingley as a straight shoot-out, winner takes all contest.

Vikings beating Steelbacks and then an NR at Leeds, and Bears beating Rapids would result in three teams level on 15 points - fourth spot being decided by "the dreaded net run rate".

A Viking defeat on Thursday but then beating Outlaws could leave Bears in the QF.

The certain thing decided in the group so far is that Durham will have a home tie in the QF.

Not far to go, but much still to be decided, a trip tp Taunton or Bristol or Canterbury being the prize.

Vikings' squad for their game at Wantage Road

Gary Ballance

Jack Brooks

Matthew Fisher
Tom Kohler-Cadmore

Has Plunkett's hip recovered?
Williamson's finger "isn't broken but there is bone damage", so will he play?
Regular skipper Patterson's left forefinger is broken and he is out for several weeks.

  1. Decent forecast at Headingley So Therefore no excuses If we play like the last two games can’t see Notts getting beat But it’s never that simple Same 11 should play if Moores is fit

  2. Hello Dale, are you the very same Dale that sits Raddy Rd lower, left side with Andy, Mick and Karl's gang and buys all the Notts gear like myself, or a completely different Dale ?! Either way, yes agree, no changes to a winning formula surely, as it's taken us nearly the entire comp to stumble across a winning formula

  3. Very interesting report Harry, permutations aplenty. The Lightning's batting wasn't so flash and struggled on a used surface at the Home of the Bears, even the box of snakes, left arm chinaman Zahir Khan had little answer in defending such a paltry total. Just goes to show how unpredictable t20 can be. Is the fat lady, quietly rehearsing her version of Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road as the Outlaws storm in to t20 qtr finals ?
