Well, something of a MONSTER crowd down at the BAY, today and even a bit of hoo-hah with a new incumbent who seemed to get the wrong end of the stick, but it wasn't quite Joshua v Fury, luckily. Well bowled Carts, be a complete travesty if you don't play at the Ageas surely. Also, my new "mate" none other than the DoC himself, was only too happy to enter into conversation when getting out from his car. So, he either recognised old Stoney in his fading Notts shorts down there(I rather doubt it), or felt compelled into a remark of "Hello, all set for Friday", to which Stoney thought it must be a case of mistaken identity(which is worrying if anyone resembles me these days). Either way what a stonker of a day down at the Bay, a crowd approaching what Coldplay command at the Arena, a conversation with the DoC himself and a scene almost out of the Bodyguard and all for free. Just cannot wait for tomorrow's instalment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey'll have to get a couple more plastic patio chairs after your endorsement.
ReplyDeleteThankfully a much less dramatic few hours at the Bay today, certainly OFF the field anyway and a much more sparse, scanty crowd in eager anticipation , unsurprising given the match situation, which possibly peaked around a heady 15 or so. The green&golds made hard work chasing down a tough victory target of 33 losing 4 batters in the process. Gnasher gave a very brief glimpse of the player he was at Sussex by playing a classic cover drive for four and Coggers tried in vain to finish it quickly with aplomb but struggled to time the ball effectively. It would be fair to say the classic, weather worn, Lady Bay benches are not the absolute ideal seating arrangement to spectate from but now at least tea, coffee, orange juice, tap water are available in the hutch upstairs, which is something at least.
