Once in a while during a match at Trent Bridge there may be a heritage talk or an anniversary celebrated and whilst an announcement to the said item is made, a piece on the club's website will be referenced along side, perhaps on the big screen.
If you blinked and missed the announcement, the article on the website in all likelihood would be lost to you forever. However those heritage bits and pieces are still there on Trent Bridge dot co dot UK, just lost or camouflaged by drones, Test match tickets selling fast or beer festivals.
There's no search facility but on the Pravda website go to Menu/About us/History and library where you'll find a wealth of fine articles.
Another example I totally missed in August, John Gunn's centenary...

It’s funny π as I never π really rated him as a cricketer(certainly red ball anyway) until he came to Notts and showed us what he could do - brilliant bowler for us, although I don’t think the ball nips around quite as much as it did back then - for whatever reason?
ReplyDeleteFrom memory the seam attack in that championship win π away at Old Trafford was him, Siddy & Patto(D) and then our attack that has won this years title - the old adage rings true - bowlers win games of Test & 4 day cricket π as you have to taken 20 wickets to win a game - obvs π
Thank you for your references to the Andre Adams article that "hides" on the Trent Bridge website
DeleteThis illustrates once again just what a significant achievement winning π the County Championship actually is with the timescale sometimes taken between lifting the trophy again for the overwhelming majority of Counties at least(Sir Alec of Stewart’s mob excepted)
ReplyDeletePossibly even harder now ? With 2 divisions you have to be in Div One to even compete to win it (obvsπ) - a fact not lost on both Leicestershire and Glammy after all their years in Div Two - you’ve got to be in it, to win it - as Dale Winton would say ?
