Billy Root Nottinghamshire Career Records 2015-2018

Maybe you could say he eventually got his chance, but he didn't take it and now he's gone for a leek...

12 innings, but even in a struggling team an average of 16 isn't inspiring.

To make matters worse for the most junior Root, he was eclipsed by Jake Libby in the Blast!

  1. As suggested a couple of weeks ago, Billy Root moves on. Was great in 2017 but would have struggled for a regular game next year.

Agreed. “New challenge” is the sort of thing you say to the media at times like this. But staying and fighting for his first team place would have been tougher.

  2. Yes, indeed, I suspect if you think you're going to struggle against Div One attacks, if you get an opportunity, you snap Glamorgan's hands off when they give you a two year contract, wouldn't we all in his position? It's not as though he's a Notts fan and was watching from the terraces like the likes of Johnno and Pollard etc and it's YOUR club. Disappointing from our point of view though in that we've invested in him and with the squad being shorn of depth yet again, could have done a job as a squad player over the coming season. It's a bit disturbing that young players from our 2nds in Hutton, Milner, Fraine and now Rooooooootdog have gone to pastures new along with one of the best white ball players we've ever had - or is this just symptomatic of the game today? Myopic Mick was quoted as saying there will be much more player movement in the future than what we've been used to in Cricket down the years.
