ECB Major Fixtures at Trent Bridge 2020

Well Lisa and her minions are going to have work hard to sell you the benefits of these lot.

Having missed out on the Ashes series 2019, Trent Bridge PLC could have hosted Australia in an ODI in 2020 as way of compensation BUT alas they have missed out again.

One Test match, one ODI and one devalued (by definition for not being held at Lord's, but for other reasons that involve the divisive Hundred competition) Cup Final.

Both West Indies and Pakistan are touring next season, playing Test matches - Trent Bridge got Pakistan.

Australia and Ireland play England in ODIs and IT20s in 2020, Trent Bridge got Ireland.

I'm sure you're all impressed. The dates to mark in your diary, once you've got one for next year.

20-24 August Test v Pakistan
10 September ODI v Ireland
19 September One Day Cup Final

Princess Pursestrings and Trent Bridge PLc are gonna have their work cut out putting their usual spin on this lot. It'll have more revs on it than a Shane Warne google......but then again as she was at pains to point out at the last Members forums, the 50 over competition is NOT being devalued. After getting the rough end of deal with some of our WC games and no Ashes TM this time, is this a slap in the fisog with a wet kipper?

    1. Bloomin' Brizzle have got an Aussie ODI - dunno about devalued competitions, but TB seems to be devalued.

    2. I think you're both overlooking the kudos attached to being a hosting venue for the Trent Rockets.

  2. We seem to have slipped behind the other 5 traditional Test grounds, having been level with the non London ones only 4 years ago. The Trent Bridge Test is during the Hundred, I think, so will this mean fewer, or even no 50 over county matches at Trent Bridge

  3. A poor selection, which is leading to more disquiet amongst members.
Losing our Ashes test was bad enough. Supposedly getting t20 finals day and then not was even worse.
Now we are being offered the scraps after the London centric and Northern Powerhouse have had their pick.
A Pakistan test is not going to sell, nor is an ODI against Ireland in September. The One Day final right at the end of the season will only be of interest to the teams involved. And both the ODI and One Day final now have to compete against the Autumn weather.
Ashes tests should be allocated to London (2), Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester and Leeds. The ground that misses out should then get the pick of an Australian ODI and/or a T20. To get neither, is a real slap in the face for us at Trent Bridge.

    1. Our astute CEO sold the holding rights of T20 Final Day back to Edgbaston.

She should get a roasting at next Members Forum but she won't because of other matters arising - namely relegation and the talent-drain

    2. Interesting point on the finals day “trade” with edgbaston.

This year we got the May 17th odi with Pakistan (which was a sellout or close to it). Next year an odi in September with Ireland.............great!

Apparently not having 4 dressing rooms was a worry. But surely we could have sorted something. ( and we have had them before). T20 finals day surely good for the local economy as well as Notts itself.

  4. Edgbaston doesn't have four dressing rooms; teams have to vacate at the end of their match with winning teams coming back for the Final.
