Worcestershire Rapids Vitality T20 Blast at New Road - Abandoned

Trentbridge.co.uk
This afternoon’s T20 Vitality Blast fixture against Worcestershire Rapids has been washed out due to persistent rain.
The rain arrived 20 minutes before the scheduled toss time of 3:30pm and despite it abating shortly before 5pm, the umpires decided there was no prospect of play due to the amount of rain that had fallen in the two-hour period.
Each side gains a point from the fixture, taking the Outlaws’ points haul to sixteen from thirteen matches during the competition to date and keeping them in prime position to secure a home quarter-final in the Vitality Blast.
The point takes the Outlaws above the Derbyshire Falcons in the table and keeps them one point ahead of thee Rapids, with the last group stage fixture taking place on Friday.
A win for the Outlaws would secure a home berth in the knockout stages whilst a win for the Rapids and a loss Notts would instead give Worcestershire second place in the North Group.

Those skin tight jeans Seabiscuit wears are enough to cause anyone an injury.Tried to probe coach Peter down at the palatial Bay today over the reasons for his departure but he was giving nothing away. Zak Chappell made an appearance. I didn't realise he was back from his stint at Glos in white ball..........due to injury. Heard rumours linked with the Raptors keeper/batsman Ben Cox.

  2. Match abandoned without a Ball bowled - 1 Point each! Still not certain that we will get a Home Tie in the Quarter-Finals.

    1. Apparently we need to beat Durham to be sure.

It’s unclear why we don’t play 16 games with 9: teams in the division. Anyway, let’s see.

Ben Philips - was the guy I was thinking of when referring to one of the trades (Sidebottom left - was the five. A 3 yr contract).

It’ll be interesting to see if any batsman form translates back into the red ball game. Thinking of Clarke and to a lesser extent Duckett.

  3. Sidebottom was not given a 3 year contract - is what I meant to write

    1. no but the older Ben Phillips was. Sid was still playing (for the Tykes) when Phillips retired from Notts. Another piece of Newell logic.

  4. Absolutely ridiculous that each Side doesn't play each other twice - it makes it a lottery as to whether you play stronger Sides just once or twice - well done ECB on a triumph of common sense and fairness! The ECB is not fit for purpose and if this continues to be the way the Game is managed at the highest level then there is no hope for the Counties in the longer-term. When will our Chairman / CEO / Committee start protesting and just demand fairness and equality?
