WITH OVERSEAS MOVED ON TO NEXT PAY CHECKS, DOES THIS SHOW A BENEFIT OF KOLPAK INVESTMENTS?
Not crickets' own Ponzi Scheme sponsored by Allen Stanford....
Outlaws Squad: if the season is to even out then because we've been so very poor in red ball, to even it out we ought to run away with the day but life or sport isn't like that alas...and no Imad Wasim
Alex Hales misses out on an England white ball central contract, which will cost Notts a bob or two, but what more motivation does the batsman need to show 'em what they're missing out on.

What a great summary per team!
ReplyDeleteI’d have thought Essex favourites- not because I think they should be, but because that’s generally how it works with Notts and Worcs having the harder semi final (ie more chance of being knocked out earlier).
We obviously all want Notts to win and it’s very much on the day, but if I had to out my mortgage on it I’d go for Worcs.
Suspect we will have a squad of 14 - the xi from the QF plus Mull, Fletch and Clarke.
Sounded like Wasim would not play earlier this week. Mull the replacement??
Notts are 4/5 favs to beat Worc tomorrow in the first game .
ReplyDeleteFor some reason the BOOKIES have made them favourites to lift the Trophy itself
Latest odds
Notts 2/1
Worc 5/2
Essex 3/1
Derbyshire 5/1
Where is the value /
Could it be that Derbys are well overdue toi win the Cup and are overpriced at 5/1 .They have a motley collection in their team any of which could come good on the day .
Really the Blast games are such a lottery and luck on the day plays such an important part it makes you think the best value is always to back the outsiders ?
Anyway ,the best of luck to the lads tomorrow . Its been a shocking season as we all know . But lifting the trophy may give the whole club (not forgetting the long suffering supporters ) a well overdue boost .
Us "old uns" must realise that the County Championship means very little to a vast number of the younger Blast 20 crowd . They just want instant gratification and a good time that usually involves copious amounts of alcohol ! . Which of course is what the Club promote in quite an aggressive way with alcohol outlets roughly every 20-30 yars around the whole perimeter of the ground .
Its a changing world and we have to accept it . without the income from the white ball game ,Trent Bridge would be a totally different venue - with far less ground development and facilities .
A simple question . In the long term will the SIX restaurant be a millstone dragging down the profitability of the Club as a whole ? What with the massive wage bill already announced for Celebrity Chefs and others it would seem to me impossible to generate enough cash to make it profitable . The SIX accounts will make very interesting reading ( if they are ever released )
PS
ReplyDeleteForgot to say I really hope Fletcher plays in at least one game .
I would put him in the final if we get there - no problem
If we can get past Worcs, then I fancy us to win it.
ReplyDeleteWe need to carry our luck though, we won't get three dropped catches as per the QF.
Looking forward to the day, and sods law, have to miss a Forest game to be there.
Rather depressingly we too find ourselves with a spare ticket if anyone is looking for one. If so call Steve 07776 295014.
ReplyDeleteSo if Fletcher plays who do you leave out as only 11 can play ?
ReplyDeleteSimple answer !
ReplyDeleteWe leave out Ball - a shadow of his former self - look at his stats .
We leave out "death"bowler GURNEY - another one who can be very expensive at the wrong time . When did he last play a proper game of cricket - cannot be match sharp - nets are no substitute for the real action under pressure
We leave out LIBBY - has proved he can strike the ball when he has to ! But he is very hit and miss and the big occasion might get to him .
It would then be leaving out either Samit ( well past his best - very poor stats this season ) or leaving out Coughlin . He must be shattered after his marathon bowling stint at TB yesterday . He looked exhausted at the end . Surely if they intended to play him in the final Mullaney would have given him an easier match and bowled Evison and Blatherwick a lot more in the second innings .
So there we have it - a team to be feared !! ??
With old faithful Fletcher to bowl the final YORKER over and perhaps clatter a few boundaries when needed ( but I hope he is not required to bat )
PS No Stuart Broad selected . Was he able to play in the final ? Or is he injured or on "holiday"?
Theres just the one teeny weeny slight problem with leaving out Ball&Coughlin and that is they have already been left out of the team in T20 for differing reasons. So, going back to the eleven that thrashed the Middx Panthers who realistically do you leave out to get Fletch in? Surely on the basis Imad is missing you wouldn't then leave out Samit and give yourself even less spin options in this format?Less changes to the team the better in my opinion as losing Imad is a massive blow already. Surely stick with a winning formula as much as we can.The difficult one to me is Clarke in for Gnasher or Libby, but thats a huge call for coach Peter to make so good luck to him with that one.C'mon Notts
ReplyDeleteWell it ended in tears yet again. The detail on that I will leave to the wonderful host of this blog. The DOC cricket says "Notts deserved to be relegated" Well apart from being obvious, it is interesting that he refers to Notts rAther than "we." Nice way to avoid the blame and is he already more a Rocket than an Outlaw ? He then blamed the "youngsters" and said we did not have enough experienced players. Well one newbie came in when we were effectively down and did well. The other 3 for one match when it was official and did OK. So is he going to sign more rubbish from other counties ?
