Secondscam Keeping it Tight

Results and statistics from 2019, as well as observed failings of technique have highlighted Notts' need to find an alternative wicket keeper. Tom Moores, it can be argued, still presents great promise and as it stands, no one in the Seconds has shown the ability too usurp him so far, however....

Notts are currently trialing a UK passport holder from New Zealand, Cam Fletcher.

Cam Fletcher currently playing for Sandwich Town in the Kent League is also playing in the current friendly at Lady Bay.

He was unluckily given out caught behind in the Notts innings and held 3 catches in the Sussex innings, where he has impressed behind the stumps. He has a UK qualification and has good stats in NZ. MAG

  1. Cam Fletcher is far better a gloveman than Tom Moores

  2. Wouldn't disagree, apparently he's a hard hitting batsman also. Look fwd to seeing him tmrw. Spoke to Zak Chappell, a really nice lad.Has now had a CT scan and the rib injury is now diagnosed so hopefully see him perform for us next year along with Coughlin who bowled a long spell from the nets end today.

  4. On a related matter, I have heard that our former reserve keeper to Tom is now playing for another country's second team. Tom is not a terrible player, but it feels he has sort of lost confidence. Hope Zak,Ball and Coughlin do storm back next year. It is hard, even cruel, but players do need to perform, patience is a virtue, but can not be unlimited

    1. Assume you mean Keast, Rich. He had various discipline issues that may not have done him any favours and also the main 2nd team coach said he made a judgement call that his batting would not be strong enough for us.

  5. Thanks for these Stats on Ben Compton - I wonder why Kent haven't offered him a Contract? Having seen him a few times at Lady Bay playing for Notts 2nds. I would say that he demonstrates some real talent and looks every inch the 4-day Player Notts need. Why not give him a run out in the First Team?
