Derbyshire LV= Championship at County Ground Derby Win Report

Day 3

1043 Day Wait is Over

After 1043 days, 149 weeks, 29 championship games, 30 first-class matches, the monkey was finally removed from their back as Liam Patterson-White bowled Ben Aitchison for a 49-ball 50 as Notts beat Derby by the enormous margin 310 runs the third highest in their championship history.

Bowling conditions were ideal;a dank, cloudy morning in Derby and the home team had no answer to the Notts seam attack. Broad took two wickets in his first over to settle the nerves, then nine overs later Paterson removed Madsen and Critchley. In his following over he bowled Hosein, 63 for five. Fletcher then bagged Wood and Guest as Derby slipped to 84-7. Aitchison put bat to ball to good effect as Derby added 75 in15 overs. Broad returned and took wickets eight and nine, the latter superbly caught one-handed by the cock-a-hoop Paterson. With lunch delayed it was left to Patterson-White to deliver coup de grace.

Broad (Racecourse End)picked up a wicket with the fifth delivery of day as the ball reared up to left hander Reece (15) who fended the ball to Clarke at first slip. Broad made it two in two as du Plooy was absolute plumb leg before for a golden duck, 26 for two. His opening partner was Dane Paterson who after Madsen had top edged him over the slips had the Derby skipper next ball edging to Moores, 53 for three in the 20th over. Four balls later, Critchley (1) shouldered arms to the South African and lost his off stump, 57 for 4 off 20 overs. A terrible waft outside off stump by Hosein (0) saw Paterson picked up his third wicket, 63 for five. Fletcher replaced Broad in the 23rd over and had Wood on21 dropped by Patterson-White at fourth slip diving to his right. Wood hit Paterson for consecutive offside boundaries and then later in the over Guest also found the ropes, 13 off the over.

Fletcher removed Wood's middle stump, the opener going for a 71-ball 31, 77 for six. James replaced Paterson in the 26th over. Fletcher got Guest (10) to edge behind as Moores took a good catch low down to his right, 84 for 7 in the 29th over.James bowled a four over spell for 14 and was replaced by the captain for the 34th over. Fletcher clearly tiring conceded 12 off the 35th over as Aitchison achieved a career best with a bat. Mullaney only bowled a solitary over and on came Patterson-White and for the next over Broad returned and Hudson-Prentice(13) top edged him to Hameed at third man, 123 for eight. The eighth wicket stand between him and Aitchison had added 39 runs in ten overs. Lunch was delayed with Derbyshire 131 for eight. Aitchison took a liking to Patterson-White hitting a four through mid wicket and then an enormous straight six. Two more sixes followed one over square leg and then over long off, 22 offthe over. Paterson took a spectacular catch running round from long leg taking the catch one handed as Conners (4) top edged Broad, 153 for 9. Aitchison top edged Patterson-White to reach an entertaining half ton. Patterson-White took the final wicket clean bowling Aitchison for 50 (49 balls, 5x4,3x6) who was attempting another hit over cow corner, Derbyshire 159 all out with Broad finishing with 4-32, Paterson 3-30 and Fletcher 2-32. They had bowled superbly for the second time in the match against what has to be said was a very poor Derbyshire team badly missing Billy Godelman and overseas signing Billy Stanlake. It was Notts sixth consecutive away championship victory over the Peakites following victories in 2002, 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2017.

Essex are next up at Trent Bridge on Thursday, ironically the last team Notts beat way back on 23 June 2018 at Chelmsford with Tom Moores the sole survivor. For Slater, Hameed, Duckett, Clarke, James,Patterson-White and Paterson it was their first championship victory in Notts colours. The embarrassing run is finally over, well done Notts. Onwards and upwards. MAG

Day 2

D-DAY LOOMS

Derbyshire require a further 447 runs with all their second wickets standing after a day where another 12 wickets fell at the County Ground. This game will now go in one of two directions; either Notts will finally break their long winless run or they will slip to their most embarrassing defeat in their long history as Derby chase their very distant target. However with Notts standing on 238-2 at tea with seven sessions remaining, you have to say, this game should now be out of Derby’s reach, but a foolhardy batting performance saw Notts lose 8 wickets for 79 runs of which the last five wickets for 10 runs which left the door ajar for the home side on an easing batting surface. Earlier Notts removed the last two Derby wickets in nine overs as Notts led by 151 runs, but the follow on was not enforced. Derby, like in the first innings, bowled poorly and Hameed (94), Duckett (87)and Clarke (53) gorged on the “all you can eat” buffet. However after tea, with so much time left Notts had obviously decided they already had enough James, Patterson-White, Moores, Fletcher and Broad all threw their wickets away. This left them with 11 overs, which became 10 overs to bowl at Derby in the evening sunshine but openers Wood and Reece survived to live another day. The bottom line is though with three bowlers in Broad, Fletcher and Paterson, far better than their equivalent Derby counterparts' is that for Notts to lose from this position should be unthinkable. However, it was only 20 years since Notts chased 461 to win at Worcester with only three wickets down, so despite what a lot of commentators might think, this game is far from over with Derby having another 192 overs left!.

On a chilly day, Broad opened up having switched to the City End. Off the second ball of the second over, Fletcher (0) had Aitchison caught at third slip, 86 for nine. Conners had a life on one as Hameed dropped him off Broad, a chance above his head. Conners brought up the Derbyshire's 100 in the 34th over with a straight four over bowler Fletcher's head. Fletcher took the last wicket as Guest played on as his off bail fell off, Derbyshire 105 all out off 34.5 overs. Guest out for 10, Conners 12 not out, the last wicket had added 19 runs. Fletcher was the pick the bowlers with 5 for 28, Broad finished 2 for 33 and Paterson 2 for.28 Notts did not enforce the follow on.

Slater hit Conners for two boundaries in the opening over from the Racecourse End. Reece bowled the second over. After two overs for 14 Conners was replaced by Hudson-Prentice. Slater (24) played on to Reece, 29 for one in the 10th over. Reece went lame after his fifth ball of his sixth over, Critchley completing the 12th over. Aitchison came on at the City End for the 14th over and a single for Duckett brought up the Notts 50. Notts got to lunch on 60 for one after 16 overs with Hameed on 19 and Duckett on 17. Derbyshire’s bowling was all over the place..

After lunch, consecutive boundaries for Duckett off Scrimshaw saw the 50 partnership achieved in 11 overs. The Notts 100 came up in the 25th over with a single for Hameed off Scrimshaw in the same over as Duckett got to 50 (10x4) ball half ton with a single. Hameed hit threefours off a Scrimshaw over. A sweep for four by Duckett off Critchley brought up the 100 partnership in just 18 overs. A glorious cover drive by Hameed off Conners brought up his 50 off 84 balls. Hameed hit Critchley for an enormous six over mid wicket. Hudson-Prentice returned, as did Reece who returned after with his ankle support he wears was readjusted. An on driven four by Duckett off Reece brought up the 150 partnership in 28 overs. Duckett (87 off 101balls with 16 fours) edged Hudson-Prentice to du Plooy at first slip who took a smart catch, 186 for two off 39 overs. The second partnership had added 157 runs in 29 overs. Hameed on 72 was badly dropped by keeper Hosein off Reece, a regulation chance. Next over, a couple of runs for Hameed off Critchley saw Notts to 200 in the 45th over. Madsen brought himself on for the 48th over. Notts got to tea on 238 for 2 off 52 overs with Hameed on 94 and Clarke on 23.

It all went wrong for Notts after tea as their game management went very much off kilter. Off the second ball after tea Hameed was bowled by Critchley for 94 off 142 balls, 239 for three. Another superb innings for Hameed who has scored 319 runs in the week. Critchley changed ends to bowl from City End and conceded a leg side boundary by Clarke to bring up the Notts 250 in the 56th over. With conditions getting somewhat gloomy the floodlights came on at 1640. James (7) mistimed a pull off Scrimshaw, and was caught at mid wicket by Wood, 259 for four in the 59th over. Mullaney (10) launched Critchley fora straight six, but edged Scrimshaw into Hosein's gloves, 275 for five. Clarke pulled Critchley for six over mid wicket. A four through point by Clarke off Scrimshaw brought up his 50 off 66 balls. Next over, Moores swept Critchley for four to bring up the Notts 300 in the 66th over. Notts then lost their last five wickets for 10 runs in 4.2 overs as they had clearly decided they had more than enough. Clarke (53 off 68 balls - 4x4,1x6) was caught at mid wicket by Tom Wood low down to his right off the returning Hudson-Prentice, 308 for 6 in the 67th over. Moores (27) edged Hudson-Prentice to Madsen at second slip, 315 for seven. Patterson-White (3) then holed out Wood at long on off Madsen, 315 for eight in the 70th over. Fletcher lasted just three balls before being caught at cover by Guest off Madsen, 315 for nine. Broad was dropped at slip by du Plooy but was bowled next ball for 0 as Hudson-Prentice finished 4-40 . Notts 318 all out off 70.4 overs. Notts who had had Derby well and truly on the ropes, had now very disapprovingly presented them with a second, albeit, slim chance.

Derbyshire required 470 to win off 203 overs on a pitch which is well known for flattening out as the game progresses. Broad(Racecourse End) and Fletcher (City End) had seven overs at the Derby openers, but did not look like making a breakthrough. Paterson came on the eighth over as Fletcher changed ends and looked a bigger threat. Rain stopped play at 1828 as Derby closed on 23 for 0 off 10 overs with Reece on 13 and Wood on 9.

Tomorrow is clearly the most important day for the club in the last three years,if Notts keep their heads a victory should be secured. It’s now down to Broad, Paterson and Fletcher to replicate their superb efforts from the first innings and remove that huge monkey off the clubs backs. The very best of luck to the Notts Eleven tomorrow. MAG

Day 1

STRONG NOTTS FIGHTBACK AFTER ANOTHER BATTING COLLAPSE

What a difference four days make, after Hameed and Slater batted throughout the day on Sunday, 18 wickets fell in Derby today as Notts closed with a lead of 170 runs with Derby just having two wickets left standing. Notts having been sent in were sitting comfortably at 194-2 after a very poor Derbyshire bowling performance on a green pitch with plenty of pace and carry put them in the box seat. However, Notts are always just one wicket away from a collapse, and they were rolled over for 256 as they lost eight wickets for 62 in 21 overs. Fynn Hudson-Prentice, who to be fair bowled well throughout, finished with a career best 4-36 and Ben Aitchison took 3-27 as Derbyshire finally found their collective radar. However it does not excuse the poor batting from Notts who exhibited a distinct lack of technique and application, not first the first time. Luckily, Slater and Clarke had added 163 for the third wicket in39 overs as they gorged on the dross. Slater returning to his former home, batted excellently for 107 off 191 balls with 16 fours, placing the ball well, and was well supported by Joe Clarke who scored 66 in 95 balls (8x4,2x6).Hameed after his five star performances at New Road bagged a two ball duck. Notts desperately needed a good bowling performance and bowling attack delivered it in bucket loads as Derby reached the close on 86 for 8 as Broad (2-22), Fletcher (3-23)and Paterson (2-28) bowled outstandingly on the helpful surface to put Notts on top.

Broad came in for Chappell. Derbyshire won the toss and inserted Notts on a green wicket. They were still without skipper Billy Godleman, as Madsen skippered the side.

It was a distinctly chilly day as the sun only came out intermittently. Sam Conners (Media Centre End) and Luis Reece(City End) opened the bowling. Reece took a wicket with his second ball; Hameed(0) who was turned round was caught at first slip by du Plooy, 2 for one. Conners after three wayward overs made way for Fynn Hudson-Prentice from the Media Centre End. Duckett (14) edged Hudson-Prentice to Madsen at second slip who took the catch in his mid riff, 31 for two after nine overs. Clarke hit a no ball from Reece over square leg for six. Conners returned for the 16th over and Slater hit him for consecutive boundaries. Ben Aitchison came on for the 19th over. A couple of runs from Clarke off Conners brought the 50 partnership for the third wicket with Slater in 13 overs. Clarke hooked Conners for six in an over costing 12 runs. Leg spinner Critchley came on for the 24th over. A four for Slater off Aitchison saw Notts to 100 in the 25th over. George Scrimshaw, the bean pole right arm seamer replaced Aitchison for the 27th over and Slater tickled for four through fine leg to reach 50 off 83 balls. Notts got to lunchon 113 for 2 for 29 overs with Slater on 54 and Clarke on 36. The feature of the morning session was the distinct lack of quality in Derbyshire’s bowling.

After a shower over lunch play resumed late at 1348. A cover driven four by Clarke off Reece brought the 100 partnership in 25 overs. Clarke's 50 off 69 balls came up in the same over with an identikit shot. The floodlights came on 1420 as the runs started to dry up. A two through mid-wicket to Slater off Aitchison brought his ton off 160 balls, earlier in the over the 150 stand came up in 37 overs. Clarke (66) fenced a lifting ball from Aitchison to keeper Hosein who took an easy catch, 194 for three in the 48th over. The third wicket partnership had added 163 in 39 overs. This was the start of yet another Notts collapse as the home side suddenly started bowling well. In the next over, a full ball from Hudson-Prentice had James (1) plumb leg before, 195 for four. Later in the same over, Slater on 101 had a life as Madsen dropped him low down at second slip;it was not an expensive miss. Mullaney was next to go shouldering arms to Hudson-Prentice he was given out leg before for 2, 197 for five off 51 overs. Critchley returned and a leg side single by Slater took Notts to 200 inthe 54th over. Notts 204 for 5 off 55 overs with Slater on 107 and Moores on 1 at tea.

Straight after tea, Slater was leg before to a well pitched delivery from Critchley for 107, 205 for 6. A rank long hop from Critchley was pulled for six by Moores. Reece picked up his second wicket when Moores (26) played a truly awful shot being caught at mid on by Scrimshaw running back, 242 for seven in the 64th over. For the second time in a week, Moores had batted far too belligerently given the match situation and paid the price! Patterson-White got two off Reece as Notts reached 250 in the 66th over, ten off the over including a glorious cover drive and a streaky boundary over the slips. Patterson-White never looked settled and it was no surprise when he was leg before to Aitchison for 23, 254 for eight. Fletcher, ho never moved his feet, was caught at slip for a three ball duck as Aitchison picked up his second wicket of the over. Broad (3) hoicked Hudson-Prentice to mid off where Wood took the catch. Far too many wickets had been given away as Notts had collapsed from 194 for two to 256 all out off 68.4 overs in a quite awful display of batting. Hudson-Prentice, Derby's best bowler finished with 4 for 36 and Aitchison had three for 27.

The Notts supporters were hoping for a fight back with the ball and that was exactly what happened. Broad (City End) and Fletcher(Media Centre End) shared the new ball. Wood on 2 was badly dropped by Patterson-White at fourth slip off Fletcher. In Broad's fourth over, he got Reece (11) to edge to Moores who took a regulation catch, 20 for one. Notts had a huge stroke of luck when Tom Wood (10) played the ball to Fletcher at mid-on off Broad and went for a suicidal single and he was sent back by non striker du Plooy, Fletcher's throw was accurate and Moores removed the bails with Wood well out of his ground, 35 for two off 11 overs. Dane Paterson came on the next over. Madsen was absolute plumb leg before to Broad (0), 37 for three in the 13th over. Leus du Plooy (11) fell leg before to Paterson, 55 for 4 off16 overs. After eight over spell Broad (2-22) took his jumper as Fletcher returned. Critchley was riding his luck and Duckett dropped him on 17 at second slip, the right hander slashing hard outside his off stump, Paterson the unlucky bowler, 13 off the over. Fletcher got the crucial fifth wicket as Hosein (2) became the third Derbyshire man to fall leg before, 80 for 5 in the 21st over. Next over Critchley's streaky innings was put to bed as he edged the aggressive Paterson to Moores, 80 for six. Critchley out for 33. Night watchman George Scrimshaw edged Fletcher and Moores took a good catch diving low in front of first slip Joe Clarke, 82 for 7 in the 23rd over. Next ball, Fletcher removed Hudson-Prentice's off stump, the Derby bowling hero out for a duck.Stumps were drawn at 1912 with Derbyshire on 86 for eight off 25 overs with Guest on 6 and Aitchison on 0. The Notts bowlers had bowled outstandingly, well done to them and to the efforts of Slater and Clarke earlier; they are well placed to gain that elusive victory.

After leading Warwick by 200 runs with eight wickets standing after two days and somehow managing to lose, surely Notts cannot throw this one away? MAG

  1. Houghton:

“Billy arrived early on Sunday morning and is now in his accommodation in Derby,” he said.

“We originally thought he would be available for the Nottinghamshire game, because he’s come from a secure bubble. However, first-class county cricket is not classed as elite sport, if he was playing Twenty20 tomorrow, he would be eligible, but because it’s four-day cricket, he has to quarantine for five days, which will go beyond the start of Thursday’s game.

Enjoy the nonsense of the situation everyone. If FCC isn't "elite sport" then why all the b*ll*cks about no spectators and all the other conundrums this throws-up.

Clearly not following any "science" or logic. How are players mixing with more players (different teams / greater number of opponents) over a shorter period time (in T20) more "covid-secure" than less players (fewer games in FCC) in the same time span?

  2. The situation re Covid regulations becomes ever more chaotic!

  3. Glamorgan's star Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne could make his return for the county in the home Championship match against Kent.

The match on Thursday, 29 April comes three days after his arrival in the UK...

...[with Neser] "They do have to quarantine but they are allowed to play at the same time as long as they just go from the ground to the hotel," explained Maynard.

"They'll have had a (Covid) test before they fly, a test on arrival, then again after two and seven days."

    Chaotic and inconsistent.

  4. We'll take all the help we can get. We're without Ball, Hutton and the Great Dane is resembling a cocker spaniel currently as he gets to grips with his year long enforced lay off from bowling.

Without Ball, Hutton and (Broad) we're left with...

Fletcher, Chappell, Dane P, Barber, Pettman, Evison and James.

James only bowled 9 overs in Worcester's extended first innings, even Mull bowled himself for 11 - why so few?

Matt Carter isn't included in the current 2s game, so is an indicator of selection for this game?

Broad's inclusion would be significant as always.

      30th time lucky?

You forget that young upstart from your bowling list, Mr Trego.
I am sure , he will be opening the bowling again for the grown up team very soon.

    Carter not in squad.

  7. Derby wicket normally gives quite a bit of help to bowlers, particularly FM or M.

This is a real chance, but of course Derbys will fight for everything.

  8. Batting likely to be the same, Unless they swop Lyndon James for Joey Evison. As for the bowlers you would think it will be a straight swop for Broad to replace Chappel.

  9. I have just done a stupid thing !
Had a tenner on Notts to win this match against old rivals Derby.
    A draw = no bet= money back .
Looking at the 4 day forecast it looks like several stoppages for rain.
That wiuld be a shame because Notts v Derby has often produced a cracking game of cricket and some pulsating finishes.
The Notts 4 day winless run HAS to end sooner or later- it must be dragging the side down after all this time.
Assuming Stuart Broad plays we need figures of
6 for 65 from him by 2 pm this afternoon.

  10. We lost the toss, so must buckle down and do a good job.

Agree with team, and my selection opinions massively not perfect, but do feel for Joey Evison. Sure he will be in the side soon. Exciting young talent

  13. Same players failing once more.Yet another groundghog day...

Captain seems to be out of form and Lyndon James early good form seems to have disappeared, As for Ben Duckett all I would say is when he is hot he is a fine player, Out of form its difficult to justify his place in the team The question is do you wait for him to come good or give him a game or two in the seconds to regain confidence.

Its all down to the bowlers now, Let's hope they are in better form than some of the batters..

  14. We are a frustrating team !
But if the pitch continues to give help to fast medium and medium bowling 256 is a score that gives us a chance.

Boy, we could with a breakthrough this evening, fear bad light might be a factor soon

  15. 80-6 Derby with 3 overs to go .
Broad was virtually unplayable on occasions. He had 6 slips at one time and thats rare.
But the Notts quicks havecall bowled well with determination and aggression.
Amazing that out of the 17 wickets to fall not one has been bowled.
Surely Notts can win this one ?

  17. I'm really just hoping that we can bowl them out for less than 150. So may times have we let teams off by allowing their last 2 or 3 wickets add 100 or so runs. It's become a routine that needs to end, today hopefully.

OMG, they've lost the plot; Mullaney won't have to make a decision after all is said and done, as the suicide squad are batting - throwing the momentum to Derby. A lack of good leadership, or any kind of leadership. All eggs in the Stuart Broad basket now!

  19. Notts go into day 3 in a position of strength, after feasting for much of the day on a generous helping of Derby's buffet style bowling.

Notts still managed to serve up the usual collapse, through a mixture of poor shot selection, brain fog, and the usual technical flaws.

One would hope that although the pitch has flattened out somewhat, that
we manage to bowl out the opposition by the close of play tomorrow, and chalk up a victory that is long overdue.

We surely can't lose this one, can we?

    ReplyDelete
  20. we should be strong favourites. By the way, anyone noticed BBC now using 'batter' on scorecards, when that is normally only used for women's game. Not sure I feel any better about getting rid of 'batsman' than the whole fiasco re wickets/ 'outs' etc.

  21. Is it time for a change of captaincy?

Like many others here, I respect Mull as a player, He can on his day be really good to watch as a batsmen and with the ball he is always likely to get a few wickets when needed.

It does seem though that being the captain of a team desperate for a red ball victory is weighing heavily on his shoulders, Runs seem more difficult to come by and of late he rarely seems to bowl himself.

Perhaps we need to look overseas, Yes I know its difficult to find the right sort of character but surely there must be players similar to Dan Christian willing to come over and generate the will to win so evident in the one day team.

Let's face it even though Notts have set Derbyshire 470 to win can we all honestly say we don't have a few worries that given they have two full days to get them it's just possible (but hopefully unlikely) they might get there.

Having said that I really hope that by this time tomorrow I will look at this post and think what was I worrying for.

But then it is Notts we are talking about!

  22. The BBC, Max have betrayed our great, British game. Cricket gets just a few words on east midlands sport referring viewers to the website for any information like, maybe a score. Instead they will devote their in depth (!) reporters to produce lengthy contributions to Basketball and other foreign fringe games. Who runs these shows?? Fletch,a local hero takes 5 wickets in a local derby match. Not a word or even some text at the bottom of the screen. Bloody disgrace

A wonderful performance by Nottinghamshire’s bowlers ensured their hosts didn’t even get close to the targets set in a dominant display that saw the visitors wrap up the County Championship match inside three days, and more importantly gave Notts their first red ball win since 2018.

It has been a long time coming but to do it against Derbyshire in style is ever more rewarding. Notts put into bat on day one at the Incora County Ground, lost Hameed and Duckett early but a third wicket partnership of 163 between Slater (107) and Clarke (66) gave the green and golds a fighting chance, that however looked to run away as Notts went from 194/2 to 256 all out, the middle order and tail skittled by Derbyshire bowlers with Hudson-Prentice taking four wickets.

The final hour though might have been a chance for the home side to close in on Notts most reachable target, instead the session went the way of the bowlers again, the visitors quickly ripping through their hosts with wicket after wicket, by close of play Derbyshire were 82/8.

On Friday morning Notts wrapped up the Derbyshire innings at just 105 all out, Luke Fletcher taking his 350th red ball wicket and 500th wicket of all as he finished on 5 for 28 from his 14.5 overs.

Into bat with a healthy lead of over 150, Notts were able to build on their dominance with a good start from the opening pair, after Slater went for 24, Hameed and Duckett went to work with a second wicket partnership that took Nottinghamshire to a lead near 300. That partnership eventually fell fourteen short of the 200 total and with a 350 plus overall lead, Duckett going for 87 with Hameed next for 94, Joe Clarke then got a quick 53 with Notts eventually swinging themselves up 318 all out and a lead of over 400 runs.

In response, Derbyshire didn’t last long as their reply was largely undone by Stuart Broad and Dane Paterson, overnight at day two they were 23 without loss but in the end following a good morning session for Nottinghamshire, after less than 42 overs and for a total of 159, thanks to 4/37 by Broad and 3/30 from Paterson, Notts wrapped up the match with a day to play to take some serious points that lifts them momentarily at least, to second in the table.

  31. Like i wrote nice to be able to look in my previous comment, What was I worrying about😁 It's so nice to be able to read others praising the team and most of all celebrating a win, Our bowlers deserve a lot of credit for their display over the two innings.

Hopefully this result will give our players a huge uplift in confidence and we will see the benefits against Essex, It's not going to be easy against the champions but wins like today can do wonders for a teams morale, Especially after the experiences of the last nearly three years.

  32. Forgot to mention the batters, Without their contribution the bowlers would have had nothing to bowl at. Special mention to the openers, Joe Clarke and not forgetting Ben Duckett.

  35. If they do decide to make a change (unlikely you would think given we have actually won a match ) it would be most likely be a straight swop between Lyndon James and Joey Evison,

  36. The great Dane’s exercise is paying off and he’s starting to show his pedigree

    ReplyDelete
  37. The Patto catch on the boundary late on in Derbyshires second innings could easily be voted the catch of the season when these things are decided..
Keeping Lyndon James in the side for the next match is a tough one for the management. But young Evison must be chomping at the bit to show what he can do n the first eleven . Lyndon started off pretty well in the first team so perhaps give him another game or two to find his feet. Very easy to ruin someones confidence at a young age by being dropped after they have waited and worked so hard. From now on you can easily see Notts winning more 4 day matches this season . The win yesterday will have made all the difference to the dressing room atmosphere. Better not get carried away though because Derby are not classed as very difficult to beat although over the years they have proven a tough nut to crack on occasions.
Once again - well done to Notts after a good win !
    More of the same please!
