Who's in the Queue at the Physio's Door 2021

04/09

Zak Chappell is ready to return after having broken a foot.

25/08

Jake Ball remains injured following the Hundred.

11/08

Stuart Broad, injured with England, is to miss the rest of the Indian Test Series.

08/08

Joey Evison, picked up an injury in the truncated farce at Derby.

01/08

Jake Ball pulled-up lame playing that stupid Hundred, I am told. I'm sure that it was the most superb breakdown in the history of cricket because the Hundred is always so..., in everything so very...

Will Notts be receiving a compensation cheque? No I didn't think so - a double whammy!

25/07

Zak Chappell not included in the RL ODC opener squad at Birmingham. Is he injured or has his sanitiser squirting talents and his relentless line and length carry drinks onto the pitch been picked up by one of the Hundred franchises?

01/07

Tom Moores sprung a last minute sick note before the Leicestershire Foxes game at Trent Bridge, not Covid related as Peter was still working.

Joe Clarke and Sol Budinger however, were both isolating having made a Covid contact - how long they have to isolate and from when, plus also if the contact was the same individual, hasn't been made public. Eye brows raised...

28/06

After doing a spot of light 12th man duty in the Blast, Zak is playing for the 2s at Aigburth.

16/06

Thankfully LPW is back in business but Zak is again absent.

14/06

Zak Chappell today returned to playing (without turning his arm over) after a couple of weeks of not . Liam Patterson-White now appears to be not playing for the seconds or being twelfth man to the Outlaws.... what is it, holiday season or a secret injury?

09/06

Conspicuous by his absence in all formats this week is Zak Chappell.

03/06

All players that were on the sick list played some cricket today.

  • Brett Hutton is in the XI at Chelmsford and is yet to bat
  • Jake Ball played a T20 game at Old Trafford, bowling 2 overs and bagging a duck
  • Matt Carter played in both T20s at OT along with Samit Patel (Alex Hales made a brief appearance in one game too)
  • Ben Duckett was triggered out at Chelmsford
  • Latest injured soldier, Joe Clarke made a return later in the day after retiring hurt (hand) in the morning session at Chelmsford. It remains to be seen how sore he is in the morning.

29/05

Jake Ball made an appearance in the field at Edgbaston and had had a net at lunch

Ben Duckett spent the afternoon nursing his thumb, substituted with Calvin Harrison in the slips.

21/05

Both Hutton and Carter have had some action with the Second XI this week

10/05

Brett Hutton was included in the Seconds XI at Derby, whereas Ball and Carter were not.

03/05

No Carter, Hutton or Ball in the Second XI game starting today at Chester le Street

28/04

You have wonder if Matthew Carter is out of sorts again. The senior player not included in either the Seconds' or the First's squads this week.

27/04

Brett Hutton will miss Nottinghamshire’s forthcoming East Midlands derby against Derbyshire with a side injury.

The 28-year-old represented the Green and Golds in competitive cricket for the first time since 2017 in the LV= Insurance County Championship opener against Durham, having spent three seasons at Northamptonshire.

The Academy graduate felt pain in his side whilst bowling in the second innings on day three, having taken three wickets and scored 51 with the bat earlier in the fixture.

He has been ruled out of contention since and is now confirmed to miss out on a return to the venue where he bowled Notts to victory with figures of 10 for 126 back in 2017.

The fixture against Essex at Trent Bridge, starting on Thursday 6 May, may also come too soon for the bowling all-rounder, who is continuing to be assessed by the club’s medical team. TrentBridge.co.uk

26/04

Nottinghamshire fast bowler Jake Ball will be out for "a number of games" with a recurring back injury.

The 30-year-old was forced off with the issue in their County Championship opener earlier this month and not featured in the two games since.

Ball won the most recent of 24 England caps in 2018 but was recalled for the recent white-ball series in India.

"He'll do all the work he needs to come back fit and firing later in the season," said head coach Peter Moores. BBCSport

21/04

Brett Hutton and Jake Ball both reported as being still injured.

17/04

Luke Fletcher reported on Day 1 of this game against Warwick as feeling unwell.

10/04

Brett Hutton went off the field mid-over today, returned half an hour later but didn't bowl again. Problem?

09/04

Jake Ball went off mid-over on Day 2 against Durham so will obviously be queue jumping in the hope of getting him functional again - whatever his problem is. (TrentBridge.co.uk neglected to mention any injury in their report)

08/04

Mick Newell let it slip on-air that Zak Chappell would have played in the opening LV= Championship game with Durham, had he been fit.

After a year out of cricket with a chest injury, overseas signing and "long term" investment, Dane Paterson, isn't match ready.

  1. Career FC bowling averages of the fast bowlers (excluding all-rounders Mullaney and James) in the current match squad and those mentioned above. See here that Chappell has the worst average of the options - so it is bemusing why he would have been selected if fit.

    Paterson 24.22
Evison 26.75 (note only 2 games)
    Hutton 26.84
    Fletcher 28.14
    Ball 28.70
    Chappell 33.96
