  1. Is this the first time (apart from during times of war) that there has not been any first class cricket played in Nottinghamshire since first class cricket was a thing?

  2. In August by Notts ?

    Good question, anyone please.

  3. You have short memories. Notts played no first-class cricket at TB in August 2019

    1. 4 Blast Games at Trent Bridge in 2019 - look how that proved to be the thin end of the wedge. We're down to one in 2021 and only have that thanks to qualification.

Just 2 RL50 games within the Notts borders unless we qualify for more.

  4. It looks like the 100 Comp is taking off with good TV viewing figures and large crowds at the grounds
( sellout today at TB for Trent Rockets?)
On top of the very valuable income stream producing Blast 20 .
So will first class cricket played in August become a thing of the past?
4 day games become fewer and fewer and slotted into the cooler ( cold on many occasions!) months of April , May and September?
In the near future just how many players will opt out of the grind of the 4 dayers?
Worrying times ahead for cricket purists . Even the Test match scene will lose its priority status as it becomes almost irrelevant in one or two cricket playing Countries

Not a full house by anyone's estimation at TB for the Rocket lift-off. May be a sell-out - to supporters of county cricket and Notts CCC however!

Not sure if it was at the limit of 3900 or just that they couldn't shift the tickets to a meaningless exhibition.

  5. Don't blame the 100 for everything24 July 2021 at 07:48

As per comments above, people do tend to have short memories when criticising the fixtures. It is nothing new to have a plethora of home games early season. Our very own DoC would request as many at Trent Bridge as was allowable as our strength was always in the seam bowling department with Shreck, Sidebottom, Ealham, Adams etc. I believe from memory the last time we won the county championship was back in 2010, the year we signed Hashim Amla and the season started on 6th April then. The RLODC games have vacated TB long before the Hundred, with the exception of the stand alone family fun day. The Hundred will no doubt make it even worse, but it started well before this new tournament has got under way.

    1. No early season games at Trent Bridge the winter they did the drainage, erected the floodlights and built the Fridge, to give the grass a chance.
