Q. WILL THE DOMINOES FALL FOR NOTTS?
A. NO
Derby were rolled over
Glamorgan choked from a commanding position and Yorkshire snatched victory and third spot.
Warwick did beat Somerset and Leicester finished above Notts after Northants failed in their chase.
Notts finished 5th, knowing if they had beaten Derby last week they would have topped the group.
With an hour or so left in the games, Notts could still sneak through in third place:
Surrey have beated woeful Derbyshire already, so are second.
Warwickshire need 128 more @ 6 to beat Somerset
Northants need 150 more @ just under 7 to beat Foxes
Glammy need 80 more @ 5 to beat the Tykes
Which one to watch?
Notts Outlaws currently sit second in the group, having completed their games. Everyone else concludes today and with the table so close at the moment, Notts could end the day in as low as sixth or seventh position if enough results don't go how we'd like.
Our net run rate might yet sneak us through to the play offs.
Today you would be confident that the weather won't influence any of today's games (barring groundstaff at Derby acting negligently again).
For the dominoes to fall for Notts, we would ideally like all four games to be home wins. That would leave the group with six teams on 8 points, including Notts. We can afford one game to have the away side being victorious, or even Leicestershire to get a tie at Northamptonshire and another of the three away sides to win - net run rate being the clincher for Notts, probably.
Next Thursday's Finals tickets are now priced at £10
England batsman Ollie Pope has been released from the squad for the second Test against India at Lord's.
ReplyDeletePope did not feature in the rain-affected first Test at Trent Bridge, which ended in a draw.
His release means he will now play for Surrey against Derbyshire on Thursday in the Royal London One-Day Cu
A lot of controversy at Edgbaston, where the umpires are ignoring the fact that Warwickshire leg-spinner Lamb is repeatedly stopping during his run-up. Not calling no ball, no warnings, not ordered out of the attack, and he has taken 3 wickets, each including a stop during the run up. Unless rules of cricket changed, stopping during run up is a no ball.
ReplyDeleteStill going on Thursday, and hope the match, and day, are a success.
ReplyDeleteProud of our youngsters.
