  1. Sol is amazing to watch , so naturally aggressive with the bat and uninhibited in his style. It is commendable that his coaches at Notts encourage him to play his natural game , he often gives Notts such explosive starts that the following batsmen have a little more time to play themselves in with quick runs on the board. I hope that Sol makes it in the pro game as he is a real crowd pleaser . It would be more the norm though if Mr Bracegirdle kept any player criticism to himself , after all the player failings of our previous red ball woes ,not one iota of criticism from him but it seems to be ok to have a go at a young lad ,who is a bit different and trying to make his way in the pro game . Good Luck Sol ,just be yourself.

For a minute I thought you were talking about Barry Richards. I too hope Lord Budinger makes the grade. I have seen a fair amount of him in the last 2/3 years batting for the stiffs on Lady Bay.I think he has found the step up to big boys cricket a little more challenging than he probably realised. I would regard him at the moment as a poor mans Liam Livingstsone but just look where he is now. Like all top order batsmen in white ball cricket he is bound to be inconsistent. Its just the nature of the beast when you're job is to get the team off to a flyer in the powerplay overs. At times he has looked completely out of his depth but on other occasions gave us glimpses of his undoubted talent and ability and I am backing him 100% to get there. I think they all mostly got away from that nasty, horrid criticism during that horrific run in red ball cricket stretching almost 3 years I believe - that's players, coaches and top brass all together but it would now appear Pete Moores was 100% correct when he was repeatedly at pains to tell us we've lost an awful lot of experience from the dressing room all around the same timeframe and it will take time to come out the other end of this red ball transition. It would appear with some of the brilliant results this season that we are now close to doing just that

  3. From the little, I have seen of him,
I would suggest that his fielding ability, is his greatest attribute.

To become a consistent performer with the bat,you need to have the ability to play ground shots. Apart from his wristy square cut, Mr Budinger hits everything else in the air. One would hope that with a bit more experience, he will learn which ball to throw the kitchen sink at, and which one to leave.

Realistically, you would have to say that at this stage, the jury is still out in terms of whether or not he will carve out a career for himself in first class cricket.

  4. As has been said , the step up from Second 11 cricket to playing in tge first team is much harder than is generally recognised. Sol is evidently good mates with Alex Hales and its obvious he has modelled hinself on him .
Up to now , the runs scored by Sol in the First 11 are almost embarrassing . But its obvious he has loads of natural talent . Surely the many various coaches at Trent Bridge can teach him a way of scoring rapidly with trying to virtually hit every ball for six . That strategy is doomed to failure. If Nottsccc had not “ lost” so many players to the 100 comp or Tests he would have been dropped by now . Alex is getting on years now so we will soon need a replacement. Lets hope with the right mentoring Sol can fulfill his potential and play his innings according to the situation at the time. Notts are blessed with some big hitters - more now than I can ever remember!

  5. Typo error! Should read
“ without trying to hit every ball for six”
