These averages very much reflect a goid season.
ReplyDeleteKeeping this team and this team spirit together, and we can do well next season.
No crazy rush to sign people, only bring in player(s), if he/they really can add to what we have.
Very interesting stats - thank you MAG/HBD for all the work involved .I dread to think how many unpaid hours are put in week in and week out to keep this blog up to date and interesting .
ReplyDeleteJust a few random comments .
What odds would you have got at the beginning of this season for Ducket to top both BOWLING and BATTING averages ?
Incredible 16 Centuries spread across quite a few players ( Joe Clarke where are you ? ) I seem to remember in the recent wilderness years (31 four day matches without a win?) that one year there wasnt a single century scored during the whole season in the four day game by a Notts player ?
Tom Moores must start to do better in order to keep his place .Is he in the side for his batting or wicketkeeping . ? I know the answer - but things have to improve a lot ,what with Dane S snapping at his heels .
Question _ Could Peter Moores bring himself to drop his son ?Unless his overall game improves .
A special word of praise for Dane Paterson . He must have gone back home a very tired cricketer . He played in so many matches and bowled 404 overs in the 4 day game . The one with a nearest total bowled (of the quicks) was Fletcher with 284.
Some were perhaps surprised that Dane was chosen as Notts County Championship player of the season .But he kept his form pretty well and bowled many overs in very hot conditions -record temperatures in fact - so his personal workload was pretty staggering . Hameed and Ducket were the other two in contention but I think Dane was the right choice .
What do others think of the stats ? There are many talking points .
I would also like to add my thanks for the administrators of the blog.very much appreciated. Foxy.
ReplyDeleteYes I second that(emotion). Great effort from BIG Dave, MAGs&also JAGs for his many photographs of the players. It’s a real bonus to have such dedicated supporters supplying us with the news, most of which Notts Pravda doesn’t give us.
DeleteAlso well done to all those who’ve enjoyed(endured) Lady Bay all season. A lot of these are not online so won’t read this unfortunately, but like the other Counties, Notts have an unbelievably dedicated hard-core loyal fan base that follow the team through thick and thin each season. It’s a real pity most of the committee are not there to appreciate it. Richard Stevenson and Diana are not included in this list. They are proper Notts supporters who only want Notts to do well.
Many thanks. The cricket season is in part the easy bit; the close season is usually more difficult to keep the torch burning. If you have any ideas or themes or indeed contributions send them to the Email address in the header (across the t's of Nottsview). Although, I'm sure there'll be conspiracy theories, leaks and opinions coming shortly, in the lead up to some vote on the proposals for cricket's structure in the future. Watch this space! MAG's,JAG's and "Big Dave's" photos from every game this season and previous seasons can be found on Facebook; just search Harry Butler Daft. You don't need to be a "friend" to view them either.
DeleteWise words and observations from the Peter Tuddenham Box ( ORAC).
ReplyDeleteMany thanks all for your labour of love this season.
ReplyDeleteThe stats throw up some interesting points.Clearly Liam must bat above Tom Moores his development as a batsman is being held back having to bat behind a slogger.
Too many times this season Liam has had to bat aggressively as he is left with the tail , anyone who saw his hundred at Taunton in 2021 would realise what a serious cricketer this lad will become.Pushing Tom down to number 8 suggests he is a specialist keeper and everyone knows how laughable that is even myopic Mick privately recognises his limitations but hasn’t got the balls to raise it with Pete.
Absolutely spot on Anon, LPW should certainly bat ahead of the white ball slogger with no technique for red ball cricket even more so now we’re facing better bowling attacks. Having watched him through his progress in the Notts Academy and Second Eleven, Liam was primarily a top order batsman batting around the No.4 position who also bowled. He has now done brilliantly to bring his bowling on so much, but as you correctly say, we don’t now want his batting progress to stop progressing with him being batted so low down the order behind a player with such limited technique who can only crash the odd boundary now and again when chancing his arm and one so completely lacking in technique when faced with the task of negotiating decent bowling attacks probing his off stump
