Sydney No Rumble, Just Tumble
I don't expect Pravda will be plugging Alex Hales contribution in the lowest T20 score ever. Sydney Thunder all out for 15 in the BBL.
Ben Duckett extends his contract with a new 3 year deal at Notts. Note that the Pravda propaganda does not  say if the "new" contract replaces his current deal in 2023 or extends it beyond... so is Duckett contracted to Notts in 2026 or just to the end of 2025?

and the skipper too ( a two year deal), as Pravda drip feeds imformation. Still no mention of the contract extension signed by Joe Clarke months ago, though.

Rehan Amed is set to make his Test debut on Saturday. He has only played three second division championship games in his career to date. That's a lot of faith put in the lad and in the quality of Divison Two.

With the new training shirts being yellow, does this mean that the T20 shirt will be a different colour? John Pye get their name on another shirt

SCOTLAND WANT TO RETURN TO COUNTY COMPETITION

Tim Wigmore

Scotland want to open talks with the ECB over a bid to enter the T20 Blast and the Hundred.

The Scots defeated West Indies in the first round of the T20 World Cup, but suffered defeats by Ireland and Zimbabwe to miss out on a berth in the Super 12 phase.

Between last year’s World Cup and this year’s competition, Scotland played just two T20 internationals but are now targeting places in the T20 Blast, contested by the 18 first-class counties in England and Wales, in a bid to grow the game in the country.

“That would be amazing,” said Anjan Luthra, the newly appointed chair of Cricket Scotland. He revealed that he planned to approach the England & Wales Cricket Board about the concept soon, with the hope that Scotland can feature in the T20 Blast from 2024, when the county season will be restructured.

Luthra said that Scotland would eventually hope to have teams in all three domestic limited-overs competitions in England - the T20 Blast, the Hundred and the Royal London One-Day Cup - but that inclusion in the Blast was the priority.

“Number one is the T20 Blast given that we know how to play T20 cricket – having just beaten a Full Member team.

“That would be the best option for Scottish cricket given that we are likely to be playing in multiple T20 World Cups over the coming years. So playing consistent cricket in the same format is important.

“It would do wonders for Scottish cricket. It would really raise our profile and it would give them good exposure. So, of course, I have the dream and the ambition of being in all three, but I need to have a conversation with ECB first and at least get into one of them.”

Scotland previously featured in domestic one-day competitions, last playing in the 40-over competition in 2013. A restructuring of the county schedule by the ECB led to both Scotland and the Netherlands no longer featuring in the English domestic game.

“The Hundred would be great as well – just given that the crowds are amazing and what that brings is pressure," Luthra said. “Our teams need to be playing under high pressure situations as much as possible because that's when you really learn and that's when you really grow as a team.”

Luthra, who is 31 and previously played youth cricket for Scotland, was appointed as Cricket Scotland's chair for a two-year period earlier this month. In July, Cricket Scotland was found to be institutionally racist by an independent review, with 448 examples of institutional racism uncovered.

“The main focus back home is to make sure that we are becoming the most inclusive sport in the country,” he said. “I think it's pretty clear what's happened. There has been clear instances of racism in the organisation and it's not acceptable. I was really angry when I read about it.”

Luthra said that, through his own experiences, he had believed that Scottish cricket suffered from racism, but did not realise the extent of the issues.

“I wasn't too surprised. I was surprised at at the extent of it. But having been in the system 12 years ago and back then, having realised how poorly run it was, I wasn't surprised that it had the potential to bring out bad things like this because generally when you have an organisation that is very poorly run, that allows for negative situations like this to occur and spread. We have not had the processes and protocols in place to stop these incidences of racism.

“I’m not your typical chairman. But I think this portrays the new vision and ambition that Cricket Scotland have and also the courage that they have to be a bit bold and to really start going out there and making things happen and the acceptance of the need to change. I'm very encouraged by the fact that they've trusted me with the position and I'm very honoured to take on the role.”

As part of his role, Luthra said that he would also prioritise developing the commercial appeal of Cricket Scotland, which have already stated their ambitions to be the next Full Member of the International Cricket Council.

“We are playing in front of millions of people when we qualify for these World Cups. And we do not have a fully baked commercial strategy right now.

“When I see what the best looks like and how other cricket boards and the ICC are operating, we're not there yet. So there's a lot of potential across all facets of our game on the pitch off the pitch, the way we think about commercial revenue, the way we think about sponsorship opportunities, the way we think about broadcasting rights.”

As well as adding to the fixture list of the men’s side – who also hope to play against New Zealand and Australia when they tour England next summer – Luthra stressed the need to develop the women’s game.

“There's huge potential to grow the fixture base in women's cricket,” he said. “I've been speaking to West Indies. I've been speaking to Ireland, about making sure that our women are playing like a lot more fixtures.”

Is Alex now playing the best cricket of his career?
Would we have got to the T20 final tomorrow without him in the side?
He paid the penalty for his “ mistakes” in life. Got a second chance , out of the blue , and grabbed it with both hands
He has proved me wrong . I thought he was on the way down a year or two ago . Lets hope he can keep the momentum going tomorrow morning ( 8am start)

The words " burn out" spring to mind when studying the overall cricket schedule of top players and international sides . It's now an all the year round job . Difficult to maintain a clear head and top form under such circumstances.

  5. We have have had a run of compartively good news, since the appointment of Richards Thompson and Gould.
But little confirmed and this women's draft for the wretched thing, is a real jolt.
The level of enthusiasm from male and female players for all things franchise is distressing. Have read that 73 pro men from England and Wales have franchise contracts.

Anyone care to speculate how many County Championship 4 day games will be played per season by each County in ten years time? My own considered guess would be 10 or less .
The rapidly multiplying franchises popping up everywhere will see to that . If the players want to play LESS 4 day stuff then what can you do ?

  12. Ray, 16th December, 11.33. That is overtly racist. He is suggesting that Rehan Ahmad has been selected purely due to the colour of his skin.

  13. "Boxes" is open to interpretation. How about young, exciting, raw and talented as being "boxes ticked"? Or, Notts lad trail blazing a path for his younger, more talented brother in the future! It's only racist if you make it so. So why do you feel it is ok to anonymously, potentially misinterpret comments, accuse someone that you don't know as being racist (and now me as well probably I expect, for allowing the original comment)? Why seek to make the world grubbier than it already is? In the words of Monty Python https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHPOzQzk9Qo

  14. It is the woke element that points directly to racism. To suggest otherwise is simple facetious

  15. What Ray means by woke, I don't know. It's not a word I use very often. What I have observed is that the definition of woke on Google does not match how people on Social Media (British) appear to be using the term to mean, in my opinion. Why seek to be offended, if you are at all offended Anonymous? By continuing this thread, you are drawing further attention to a post that you say you find overtly offensive. Instead, you could be celebrating the achievements of Rehan Ahmed over the past couple of days - the kid done good, wouldn't you agree?

  16. Shane Warne said he would play county cricket by the time he was 15 . He’s only played 4 first class games( difficult for any 18 year old to play more because there is not much of that type of cricket anymore!) he has been talent spotted early and picked on potential and Crickey it’s come off over the last few days. I know one think if he’s on 50 test wickets this time next year England will of won the ashes, and by the end of July too ! Foxy

  17. He may only have played a handfull of FC matches, but he is a County Cricket find and brought through rhe acadamy system. It would be nuce if Mr Agnew recognised that, instead of snide and unfair remark, at how little he would have (and will)
    learnt playing for Leicestershire.
